''Fallen Angels'' is the 37th studio album by Bob Dylan, released by Columbia Records on May 20, 2016. The album consists of cover versions of twelve classic American songs chosen by Dylan from a diverse array of writers such as Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn, and Carolyn Leigh. Much like the album's predecessor, '' Shadows in the Night'', every song on the album, except for "Skylark", was once recorded by Frank Sinatra. The album received generally favorable reviews from critics, with particular praise for Dylan's vocal performance, production quality, and the arrangements of his band. ''Fallen Angels'' received a nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, held in February 2017. Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. William McKinley Fox (February 1, 1926 – January 1986), better known as "Blackjack" Billy Fox, was an American light heavyweight boxer who is best known for having won a controversial fight against future middleweight champion Jake LaMotta. Early life William McKinley Fox was born in Tatums, Oklahoma on February 1, 1926, to Melvin Calvin Fox (died 1984) and Beulah Carter (died 1933). After his mother died when he was a child, he was raised by his stepmother, Viola Harris Fox. Fox enlisted for service in World War II in 1944, when he was 18. Blackletter (sometimes black letter), also known as Gothic script, Gothic minuscule, or Textura, was a script used throughout Western Europe from approximately 1150 until the 17th century. Daniel Roland Lanois ( , ; born September 19, 1951) is a Canadian record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter.
