Falchion (band)
Falchion was a Finnish heavy metal/death metal band formed in 2002. Their debut album, ''Legacy of Heathens'', was released in 2005. The vocalist and lead guitarist Juho Kauppinen and drummer Matti Johansson formerly performed with the Finnish folk metal group Korpiklaani, as the accordion player and drummer, respectively, before Juho's departure in 2013, and Matti's departure in 2019. Lahti
Lahti (; sv, Lahtis) is a city and municipality in Finland. It is the capital of the region of Päijänne Tavastia (Päijät-Häme) and its growing region is one of the main economic hubs of Finland. Lahti is situated on a bay at the southern end of lake Vesijärvi about north-east of the capital city Helsinki, south-west of the Heinola town and east of Hämeenlinna, the capital of the region of Tavastia Proper (Kanta-Häme). It is also situated at the intersection of Highway 4 (between Helsinki and Jyväskylä) and Highway 12 (between Tampere and Kouvola), which are the most significant main roads of Lahti. Juho Kauppinen
Juho Kauppinen (born 4 August 1986) is the former accordionist of the Finnish band Korpiklaani. He has also been in Falchion, which was a Finnish Death Metal band, in which he was the vocalist and lead guitarist. Falchion Falchion was founded in 2002 by Juho Kauppinen and Joonas Simonen at the ages of 15 and 16 years old, they were influenced by Amorphis and Ensiferum. After some time Juho Kauppinen felt the need to change the line-up since the members lived far from each other. Sadly, after more line-up changes, the band split-up in December 2009. Korpiklaani Korpiklaani was founded in 1993 with the name of Shamaani Duo, until 1997 when they changed their name to Shaman, until 2003 when they changed it to Korpiklaani. Juho Kauppinen joined Korpiklaani in October 2004, so Falchion was put on hold. Accordions (from 19th-century German ''Akkordeon'', from ''Akkord''—"musical chord, concord of sounds") are a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type (producing sound as air flows past a reed in a frame), colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. A person who plays the accordion is called an accordionist. The concertina , harmoneon and bandoneón are related. The harmonium and American reed organ are in the same family, but are typically larger than an accordion and sit on a surface or the floor. Melodic Death Metal
Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Pioneered by the English heavy metal band Carcass with their 1993 album ''Heartwork'', melodic death metal developed further in Sweden (developed by bands like At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, and In Flames) in the mid-1990s. Folk Metal
Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. It is characterised by the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech). It also sometimes features soft instrumentation influenced by folk rock. The earliest folk metal bands were Skyclad from England and Cruachan from Ireland.
