Fairmont (band)
Fairmont is an American indie rock band from New Jersey, fronted by Neil Sabatino. They have released eleven full-length albums, as well as six EPs, and toured across the United States for over a decade of their existence. History Fairmont is a five-piece rock band, based in North Jersey that formed in 2001. That year, after leaving the Eyeball Record's emo-punk band Pencey Prep, Sabatino signed with Reinforcement Records under the moniker Fairmont, a homage to the Minnesota city. Fairmont was initially a solo acoustic project. Over the years the group became a blend of indie rock and pop. Early years The debut sixteen-track album, ''Pretending Greatness is Awaiting'', was released on December 3, 2001. Work on the second album ''Anomie'' was delayed in March 2003, as three of the members quit the night before recording began. Mina Caputo (born Keith Caputo; December 4, 1973) is an American singer best known as the lead vocalist and a founding member of New York City alternative metal band Life of Agony. Caputo came out as transgender in 2011 and transitioned to female. Early life Mina Caputo was born on December 4, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York. Both her parents were of Italian-American descent. Both of her parents struggled with heroin addiction, and when she was an infant, her mother died of a heroin overdose and her father (who died in 2002 from similar causes) put Mina under the care of her grandparents, who lived in Mill Basin, New York. Caputo's upbringing was difficult, and her grandfather physically abused her and her grandmother. ''Punk Planet'' was a 16,000 print run punk zine, based in Chicago, Illinois, that focused most of its energy on looking at punk subculture rather than punk as simply another genre of music to which teenagers listen. In addition to covering music, ''Punk Planet'' also covered visual arts and a wide variety of progressive issues — including media criticism, feminism, and labor issues. The North Jersey Indie Rock Festival is an American annual concert in Jersey City, that showcases artists primarily from New Jersey. About The festival was created by Sniffling Indie Kids co-founder Frank DeFranco and Mint 400 Records founder Neil Sabatino, in 2016. It has been hosted by many of the state's music magazines, websites and radio, including ''The Aquarian Weekly'', ''Jersey Beat'', Speak Into My Good Eye, and WFDU. The labels were both working on the album ''Creases'' when they were formerly introduced. ''1967'' is a compilation album released by the Mint 400 Records label. It is the label's sixth compilation, and features songs that were written or made popular in the year 1967. Content The fourteen-track album was released by Mint 400 Records for free on 30 March 2015, and showcases the Duke of Norfolk, Fairmont, Fawn and Rabbit, Jack Skuller, the Maravines, Moscow Centre, Murzik, the One & Nines, Netorare Fan Club, Tri-State and Zach Uncles. In a ''Pirate!'' press release, the staff writer notes "the majority of bands on Mint 400 Records have a strong 60's influence and 1967 seemed like the year that was most important." ''Destruction Creation'' is the sixth studio album from the American rock band Fairmont. Content The ten-track album was released on November 2, 2010, by Mint 400 Records. On recording for the ''Destruction Creation'', vocalist Neil Sabatino explains in ''Jersey Beat'' that they were originally "going to engineer 100 percent of the recording and just have Bryan Russell mix the record ecausewe had done three records now all while holding hands with this amazing producer, but felt it was time to let go and try it all on our own." He also notes that "I wanted the theme of the artwork and the music on the album to reflect a real DIY homemade record and I think we accomplished that." The North American College and Community Radio Chart, often abbreviated as NACC, is a weekly Top 200 radio chart launched in January 2017. As of 2018, the NACC chart receives weekly airplay reports from over 200 radio stations across North America.
