Robert Samuel Fairman (13 July 1883 – 1968) was an English footballer who played as a full back or wing half. He scored two goals in 38 appearances in the Football League over two spells for Birmingham, and played 90 Southern League matches for West Ham United. Fairman was born in Southampton, Hampshire. He got his first taste of motorsport before World War II, driving an Alvis 12/50 in trials and hill climb events from 1934. James Fairman (1826 in Glasgow – 12 March 1904, in Brooklyn, New York) was a Scottish-born American landscape painter, art teacher, art critic and military officer. Biography His father, Laurenz Fehrman, was a Swedish military officer who served under King Charles XIV John in the Coalition Wars. When the King changed sides, he fled to Scotland, where he married James' mother, Mary Farquharson Black. In 1832, after his father's early death, his mother decided to emigrate to the United States. They settled in New York City. In 1842, having shown some aptitude for drawing, he began attending evening classes at the National Academy of Design. Upon the recommendation of the portrait painter, Frederick Styles Agate, he became a full-time student. The Orrin and Roxanne Fairman Kinyon House is a private house located at 7675 N. Ridge Road in Canton, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. History One of the earliest settlers in Canton Township was Elisha Kinyon; he and his wife Dilla first bought land in the area in 1831. Elisha's son Orrin bought from his father in 1834, and in 1835 he married Roxanne Fairman. The couple had eight children between 1836 and 1856, all sons, and built this house in 1850. Only three of the couple's sons survived to adulthood; family tradition recounts that in 1849, Roxanne Kinyon accidentally poisoned two of her sons, and every day thereafter visited their graves for the rest of her life.
