Fablefactory is a band from Athens, GA. The band was officially formed on May Day 1996, consisting of Davey Wrathgabar ( The Visitations, Elf Power), Hank Wren (Ned Kelly, Gamut, and, FM51), and Freckles Le Chat ( Dixie Blood Mustache) with Dallas Longhorne joining the band prior to recording their first album. Their debut single, ''Fowell Byrd'', was released in October 1997 and received a warm review in Magnet Magazine. Then, they released their first album ''American Custard'' in 1999. It was lauded by both Flagpole Magazine (Athens, GA) and Penny Black Music (U.K.) as one of the top albums of 1999. In 2000, ''AC'' was released in Japan with the addition of the ''Fowell Byrd'' single. The band toured and played in '99/'00 with Of Montreal, Elf Power, The Minders, Olivia Tremor Control, Drums & Tuba, Radio 4, The Impossible Shapes, etc. The band self-released a second single, ''Chocolate Rainbow b/w They Come From Planet Goo!'' in 2000. Its catalogue features indie rock, indie pop and hip-hop music, with several of its artists associated with or influenced by The Elephant 6 Recording Company. History The label began as a compilation album, ''Happy Happy Birthday To Me Volume 1'', before it expanded into a 7" singles club, which released records by Of Montreal, Marshmallow Coast, The Essex Green, Great Lakes, and Masters of the Hemisphere, while also releasing several tape and CD compilations. The singles club was noted for its individuality, with each individual record by an artist often being different. For example, each copy of The Essex Green's single came with a different original photograph on the sleeve, while Marshmallow Coast's were hand-drawn by school children. Elf Power
Elf Power is an American indie rock band that originated in Athens, Georgia, United States. The line-up consists of guitarist/vocalist Andrew Rieger, keyboardist Laura Carter, guitarist Dave Wrathgabar, bassist Bryan Poole, and drummer Peter Alvanos. They are part of the Elephant Six Collective. History The band began as a four-track recording project of Rieger, Carter, Raleigh Hatfield and Dave Wrathgabar, later of Fablefactory. These recording sessions eventually resulted in the first incarnation of their debut album ''Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs''. The band's line-up expanded when Rieger and Carter recruited Elephant Six musician Bryan Poole, also known as The Late B.P. Helium. Drums & Tuba was an instrumental rock group. The band formed in Austin, Texas, before relocating to New York City. Their sound fuses electronic rock, progressive rock, jazz and occasionally industrial. They were signed to Righteous Babe Records. History The group began as a duo with Brian Wolff and Tony Nozero performing weekend nights for tips on Sixth Street in downtown Austin. The band was originally called "Just Drums & Tuba" and consisted only of a drummer (Nozero) and tuba player (Wolff). They eventually added a guitarist (Neal McKeeby) to their lineup. History Early years The band was formed in 1999 as a trio comprising Anthony Roman (vocals/bass), Tommy Williams (guitar/vocals) and Greg Collins (drums). The Olivia Tremor Control is an American psychedelic band from Athens, Georgia. The band's main line-up comprised Will Cullen Hart, Bill Doss, Eric Harris, John Fernandes, and Peter Erchick. The Olivia Tremor Control's music encompasses a wide range of styles, including indie rock, neo-psychedelia, psychedelic pop and psychedelic rock. Among the band's more prominent influences include psychedelic pop bands of the 1960s, such as the Beach Boys and the Beatles.
