FNM Class E 750 II
The E.750 is a class of electric railcars of the Italian railway company Ferrovie Nord Milano. Production The first series was built from 1982 to 1984, and was very similar to the ALe 724 of the Ferrovie dello Stato. The second series, built from 1992 to 1993, received a new cockpit design, similar to the ALe 582 and the ALe 642 of the Ferrovie dello Stato Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane S.p.A. Società Italiana Ernesto Breda (), more usually referred to simply as Breda, was an Italian mechanical manufacturing company founded by Ernesto Breda in Milan in 1886. History The firm was founded by Ernesto Breda in Milan in 1886. It originally manufactured locomotives and other railway machinery, but later branched out into armaments and aircraft. Occasionally, not continuously, the company also built trolleybuses. The ALe 724 are a class of EMUs of the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato, projected for suburban and regional services. History In 1978 the Ferrovie dello Stato received a series of prototype-EMUs, the so-called ″ Treni GAI″, that had for the first time a chopper technology instead of the classical electric equipment. As the tests of the ″treni GAI″ were positive, in May 1979 the FS ordered a series of EMUs derived from them. The lombard regional railway company FNM had already ordered in 1978 some similar railcars, numbered E.750. The ALe 582 is an Italian electric multiple unit train designed for commuter and medium-distance services, developed in the mid-1980s to replace pre-war and immediately post-war EMUs and locomotive-hauled trains on various lines in Sicily and Southern Italy, although they later diffused on the whole FS network. FS ALe 642 is a class of Italian Electric Multiple Unit trains built from 1991 to 1995 for use on secondary lines and for commuter traffic. In service since 1991. Description This class is strictly derived from the previous ALe 582 and ALe 724 EMUs, sharing most of the mechanical and technical characteristics.
