FK Ventspils
FK Ventspils is a Latvian football club, based at Ventspils Olimpiskais Stadions in Ventspils city and is one of the most popular football clubs in the country. The club played in the Latvian Virsliga since 1997. It was abolished in 2020, but has since returned to Latvian football and competes in the Latvian First League as of 2023. In total, FK Ventspils has won six league titles and seven Latvian Cups. They became Latvian Higher League champions in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2014. In 2009 FK Ventspils became the first Latvian club to participate in the group stages of a UEFA competition after beating BATE Borisov from Belarus. Ventspils Olimpiskais Stadions, more commonly called the Ventspils Stadions, is a multi-purpose stadium in Ventspils, Latvia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. Sergejs Semjonovs
Sergejs Semjonovs (born 15 March 1959) is a Latvian football manager and a former footballer. He played as a defender. Playing career Sergejs Semjonovs was one of the most reliable defenders in Daugava Rīga coached by Jānis Skredelis in mid-1980s when the club was one of the strongest sides in the Soviet first league. He played 9 seasons with Daugava, capping 340 appearances and scoring 3 goals. After the collapse of the Soviet Union Semjonovs played for some time with a club in Poland, in 1995 he retired from playing and switched to coaching. Deniss Kačanovs
Deniss Kačanovs (born 27 November 1979) is a Latvian football defender, currently playing for Adlwang in the second lowest Austrian football league. Club career Kačanovs started his career in FC Universitate Riga, later on joining FK Ventspils in 2000. In 2001, he joined FK Daugava Rīga, but in 2002 rejoined FK Ventspils once again. He played there for 7 years, making 151 appearances and scoring 6 league goals. He was released in 2009 because of being in suspect of betting on his own team's results, and was without a club for more than a year. His fault wasn't proved then, and the player stated he had had several conflicts with FK Ventspils for a long time. In February 2011 he joined Skonto Riga.
