Bad Mitterndorf
Bad Mitterndorf is a town in Salzkammergut in the Austrian state of Styria. Situated between Salzburg and Graz, it is a popular winter sports resort and also as a location for walking and cycling in the summer. Bad Mitterndorf is the site of two health spas with thermal baths, an outdoor swimming pool and other health amenities, cafés and leisure areas. The town hosts a children's club during the holidays. Bad Mitterndorf is also the location of one of the world's five ski flying hills, Kulm. Karel Kodejška (born 20 March 1947, in Lomnice nad Popelkou) is a Czech former ski jumper who competed from 1969 to 1976. He won two medals at the FIS Ski Flying World Championships with a gold in 1975 and a bronze in 1973. Kodejška also competed in two Winter Olympics, earning his best finish of tied for seventh in the individual normal hill event at Sapporo in 1972. Rainer Schmidt (born 1 August 1948 in Langewiesen, Thuringia) is an East German former ski jumper who competed from 1972 to 1976. He won the bronze medal in the individual large hill competition at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo. Karl Schnabl (born March 8, 1954 in Achomitz, community Hohenthurn, Carinthia) is an Austrian former ski jumper who competed during the 1970s. His best-known successes were at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, where he won a gold medal in the individual large hill event and a bronze medal in the individual normal hill event. He also won the ski jumping event at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1976. Schnabl also won bronze at the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in 1975. FIS Ski Flying World Championships
The FIS Ski Flying World Championships is a ski flying event organised by the International Ski Federation and held every two years. The event takes place on hills much larger than ski jumping hills, with the K-point set between and . Unlike ordinary ski jumping, the Ski Flying World Champion is determined after four jumps. 40 jumpers qualify for the competition and jump the first round, 10 are eliminated, and the 30 remaining jumpers compete in the last three rounds. The person with most points combined after four jumps is declared the World Champion. In 2004, the FIS introduced a team event between national teams of four jumpers, with two jumps each.
