The Women's giant slalom competition at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2019 was held on 14 February. A qualification was scheduled to take place on 11 February, but was cancelled. Petra Vlhová won the gold, the first-ever for Slovakia at the World Championships. Åre (pronounced like 'Aura') is a ski resort in Jämtland, Sweden, founded in 1909 and owned by SkiStar AB. Lara Gut-Behrami (; ; born 27 April 1991) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. Alice Robinson (born 1 December 2001) is a New Zealand World Cup alpine ski racer. At age sixteen, she competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics, in giant slalom and slalom.
