Åre Ski Resort
Åre (pronounced like 'Aura') is a ski resort in Jämtland, Sweden, founded in 1909 and owned by SkiStar AB. Åre, short for Årefjällen (''Åre Mountains''), is located in Åre Municipality, just outside and above the village of Åre, approximately 80 km (50 mi.) from the city of Östersund. Irene Curtoni (born 11 August 1985) is an Italian former World Cup alpine ski racer. She was specialised in the technical events of giant slalom and slalom. Born in Échirolles, Isère, France, where her father was a ski instructor, Curtoni was raised in the province of Sondrio in Lombardy, Italy. Whilst growing up, she also competed in basketball, gymnastics and swimming before settling on skiing. She made her World Cup debut in December 2007, and her best result is a third place in giant slalom in March 2012 in Ofterschwang, Germany. Through December 2020, Curtoni has two World Cup podiums and 32 top ten finishes; she has represented Italy in five World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics, where she was tenth in the slalom and part of the Italian squad which finished fifth in the team event. Marta Bassino (born 27 February 1996) is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer. She competes in all disciplines, with a focus in giant slalom, in which she has won 6 World Cup races. Biography Born in Cuneo, Piedmont, she lives in Borgo San Dalmazzo. At the Junior World Championships in 2014, Bassino won the gold medal in the giant slalom on her eighteenth birthday in late February. This win granted her an automatic start at the giant slalom of the World Cup finals in mid-March, which was her World Cup debut. The next season was her first on the World Cup circuit. Michael Matt
Michael Matt (born 13 May 1993) is an Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer. He specialises in the Slalom discipline and has competed in three World Championships. Career Matt made his World Cup debut at age 20 in the Levi slalom in November 2013, racing alongside his brother Mario. He competed at the 2015 World Championships in Beaver Creek, US. Matt raced in the slalom, but failed to finish the second run. Matt gained his first World Cup podium in Finland as the runner-up at Levi on 13 November 2016, and celebrated his first victory on 5 March 2017 in Slovenia at Kranjska Gora. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongchang, South Korea, Matt finished the first run of the slalom competition in 12th place but moved up to third after the second run, securing himself the bronze medal.
