FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships
The FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup had its inaugural tournament in 2014 in Bucharest, Romania. There are two events in the championship, one men's event and one women's event. Each team has four players (three on court and one on the bench). 3x3 (basketball)
3x3 basketball (pronounced ''three-ex-three'') is a variation of basketball played three-a-side, with one backboard and in a half-court setup. According to an ESSEC Business School study commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, 3x3 is the largest urban team sport in the world. This basketball game format is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, the sport's governing body. Its primary competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour, comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament, and awarding six-figure prize money in US dollars. European Championships
The European Championships is a multi-sport tournament which brings together the existing European Championships of some of the continent's leading sports every four years. The inaugural edition in 2018 was staged by the host cities of Berlin, Germany and Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom between 2 and 12 August. The second edition in 2022 took place in Munich, Germany. The various Europe-wide championships in the same disciplines that are held outside this quadrennial framework (annually in the cases of cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon; biennially in the cases of athletics and aquatics) are unaffected by this event. Basketball Competitions In Europe Between National Teams
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. EuroBasket Women is a biennial international women's basketball competition held between the nations of FIBA Europe for women's national teams. EuroBasket Women is also used as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Women's World Cup and also the Olympic Games. History The first tournament was held in 1938 in Fascist Italy, with participation of only five national teams. Despite losing to Lithuania (21–23), the host team won all other matches and captured inaugural title thanks to better head-to-head point difference among Top 3 teams. EuroBasket, also commonly referred to as the European Basketball Championship, is the main international basketball competition that is contested quadrennially, by the senior men's national teams that are governed by FIBA Europe, which is the European zone within the International Basketball Federation. The FIBA Europe Under-18 3x3 Championships (and FIBA Europe Under-17 3x3 Championships since 2021) is an under-17/under-18 3x3 basketball competition between FIBA Europe members. The event was held for the first time in Minsk, Belarus in 2015 and has been held annually ever since. In the championship there are 2 events, men's and women's. 2017 FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup
The 2017 FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup was the third edition of the 3x3 Europe Championships, organized by FIBA Europe, and was held between 7 and 9 July 2017, at the Museumplein in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This 3x3 basketball competition featured separate tournaments for men's and women's national teams. Latvia won their first European championship title in the men's tournament, by beating Slovenia in the final. In the women's tournament, Russia won their second European championship title by beating Spain in the final. Qualification The qualification events took place in June 2017. Twenty-four teams from 16 countries took part in these tournaments, with 12 teams of each gender qualifying for the final championship.
