EuroBasket Women
EuroBasket Women is a biennial international women's basketball competition held between the nations of FIBA Europe for women's national teams. EuroBasket Women is also used as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Women's World Cup and also the Olympic Games. History The first tournament was held in 1938 in Fascist Italy, with participation of only five national teams. Despite losing to Lithuania (21–23), the host team won all other matches and captured inaugural title thanks to better head-to-head point difference among Top 3 teams. Lithuania and Poland took silver and bronze medals respectively. The Second World War (1939–1945), which began the following year, interrupted the organization of women's basketball tournaments for a long time. Elena Igorevna Kirillova, (russian: Елена Игоревна Данилочкина; born 27 January 1986), née Elena Danilochkina, (russian: Елена Данилочкина) is a Russian basketball player. She played as a shooting guard for the Russian women's national team and Nadezhda Orenburg in the Russian Premier League. She then switched to Dynamo Kursk in 2016, winning with her team the EuroLeague in 2017. Emma Meesseman
Emma Meesseman (born 13 May 1993) is a Belgian professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe of the EuroLeague Women and the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). After playing basketball in Belgium, Meesseman was drafted by the Washington Mystics with the 19th overall pick in the second round of the 2013 WNBA draft. She has also played for the Belgian international team and several European professional teams. She was named the 2011 FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year and the 2019 WNBA Finals MVP. The 2023 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2023, was the 39th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Slovenia and Israel between 15 and 25 June 2023. The games were played in Tel Aviv and Ljubljana. Serbia was the defending champions. The 2021 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2021, was the 38th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by France and Spain between 17 and 27 June 2021. It was the third time to be hosted by multiple countries. Astou Ndour-Fall ( Ndour; born August 22, 1994) is a Spanish professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and for Çukurova Basketbol of the Turkish Women's Basketball League. Born in Senegal, she represents Spain internationally. Early life Astou Ndour was born in Dakar, Senegal on August 8, 1994. Both of her parents had been basketball players. Alba Torrens Salom (born 30 August 1989) is a Spanish female basketball player at the small forward position who plays for UMMC Ekaterinburg. Winner of six EuroLeague titles with three clubs and eight medals with the Spanish senior team, she is considered one of the best European players of the 2010s. The 2017 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2017, was the 36th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. The tournament was awarded to Czech Republic after winning the bid to Serbia. The tournament also serves as a qualification for the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain, with the top five nations qualifying. Ana Dabović (Serbian Cyrillic: Ана Дабовић; born August 18, 1989) is a Serbian professional basketball player for the BLMA of the French Ligue 1 and EuroLeague Women.
