Alba Torrens
Alba Torrens Salom (born 30 August 1989) is a Spanish female basketball player at the small forward position who plays for UMMC Ekaterinburg. Winner of six EuroLeague titles with three clubs and eight medals with the Spanish senior team, she is considered one of the best European players of the 2010s. After the February 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, she left the Russian team UMMC Ekaterinburg. Club career Torrens started playing basketball in clubs in her native Balearic Islands before moving in 2003 to Segle XXI, where young talents are developed. She made her debut in the Spanish top-tier league with Celta Vigourban in the 2007–08 season. Perfumerías Avenida was her clubs for the next two seasons, winning the Spanish league and the Euroleague in 2011 under coach Lucas Mondelo. FIBA Europe Women's Player Of The Year Award
The FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year Award was a yearly Player of the Year (POY) award that has been given out by FIBA's (the international governing body of the sport of basketball) European Division, to the best female basketball player with European citizenship. The inaugural award was given in the year 2005, and was awarded to Maria Stepanova of Russia; whom also won the most awards, having won the award three times. The small forward (SF), also known as the three or swingman, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. EuroBasket Women is a biennial international women's basketball competition held between the nations of FIBA Europe for women's national teams. EuroBasket Women is also used as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Women's World Cup and also the Olympic Games. The 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, the 18th edition of FIBA's premier international tournament for women's national basketball teams, was held in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain from 22 to 30 September 2018. The 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women, the 16th edition of FIBA's premier tournament for women's national basketball teams, was held from September 23 to October 3, 2010 in the Czech Republic.
