FIBA AmeriCup
The FIBA AmeriCup (previously known as the FIBA Americas Championship) is the Americas Basketball Championship that takes place every four years between national teams of the Western Hemisphere continents. Since FIBA organised the entire Western Hemisphere west of the Atlantic Ocean under one zone, countries from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America compete in this tournament. Through the 2015 edition, the Americas Championship took place every two years, and was also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games. However, since 2017, the AmeriCup, along with all other FIBA continental championships for men are played once every four years. 2022 FIBA AmeriCup
The 2022 FIBA AmeriCup was the 19th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was played in Recife, Brazil, as Brasília was dropped as a second host city months before the tournament. It was originally scheduled to take place in 2021, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to 2 to 11 September 2022. The 2022 FIBA AmeriCup concluded with Argentina winning the final against Brazil to win their third title. The United States secured the bronze medal with a victory over Canada. Gary Orlando Forbes (born February 25, 1985) is a Panamanian former professional basketball player for the Saigon Heat of the ASEAN Basketball League. He played college basketball initially at the University of Virginia, then transferred to the University of Massachusetts, following his sophomore season. High school career Forbes and his mother moved to Brooklyn, New York when he was a child. He went on to attend and play basketball at Benjamin Banneker Academy in Brooklyn. He scored 1,512 points and grabbed 766 rebounds during his high school career, and established career records for points, rebounds and blocked shots. José Jaime Lloreda Ferrón (born November 10, 1980) is a Panamanian professional basketball player. He is a longtime member of the Panama men's national basketball team. College career Lloreda played two years of junior college ball for Dixie State College in St. George, Utah after graduating from the Berkshire Academy in Homestead, Florida. He was a dominant power forward in two years for the Ragin' Red, averaging 16.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in his first season and 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in his second season. Marcelo "Marcelinho" Tieppo Huertas (born 25 May 1983) is a Brazilian professional basketball player for Iberostar Tenerife of the Spanish Liga ACB. Francisco Alberto García Gutiérrez (born December 31, c. 1981) is a Dominican former professional basketball player who played nine seasons in the NBA.
