FIA European Touring Car Cup
The FIA European Touring Car Cup was an annual touring car racing event, which had been held at various locations across Europe from 2005 to 2017. Unlike in previous years where it was a one-off event, in 2010 the series was a three round event. History It was created when the European Touring Car Championship finished at the end of 2004, being superseded by the World Touring Car Championship. The cars that are eligible are those complying with the FIA Super 2000, Super 2000 Diesel, Super Production and Super 1600 technical regulations. The drivers must either have competed in a minimum of 50% of their own National Championships; been designated by their ASN (National Sporting Authority) and who have not taken part in the FIA WTCC with a Manufacturer’s team or belong to a country in which there is no national Championship and been designated by their ASN. Touring Car Racing
Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition with heavily modified road-going cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for entertaining, well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. Richard Göransson
Richard Göransson (born 8 August 1978 in Örebro) is a Swedish auto racing driver. He is a 4-time champion of the Swedish Touring Car Championship winning it for West Coast Racing in 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2010. He won the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship in 2016 for Polestar Cyan Racing. Career He started racing in karting from 1989 through to 1993. In 1996 he was Swedish Formula Ford Champion. He also competed in both the British and European Formula Ford Championships. He won the European Formula Ford Championship in 2001. Fabio Fabiani (born 13 October 1974 in Ravenna) is an Italian auto racing driver. Moto Bike Career He started in Italian Sport Production Championship in 1994 moving to Italian 125cc in 1995. Michel Nykjær (born 17 September 1979) is a Danish auto racing driver. Nykjær is a two-time European Touring Car Cup winner. Career Early years Between 1989 and 1993 he spent his early racing years in karting. After a break, he returned to motorsport in 1998, with saloon cars in the Danish Group N Championship. Ryan Sharp (born 29 April 1979 in Newtonhill, Scotland) is a race car driver and team manager.
