FC Kansas City
FC Kansas City was an American professional women's soccer club based in Kansas City, Missouri. The team was one of the eight founding clubs of the National Women's Soccer League in 2012, and began play in 2013. They were two-time NWSL champions, having won titles in 2014 and 2015. After the 2017 season, the NWSL re-acquired owner Elam Baer's membership interest and subsequently ceased the team's operations. Becky Sauerbrunn
Rebecca Elizabeth Sauerbrunn (born June 6, 1985) is an American professional soccer player for Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States. Since 2021, Sauerbrunn is the captain of the United States women's national soccer team. She previously captained Utah Royals FC and, from 2016 to 2018, co-captained the national team with Carli Lloyd. Sauerbrunn played collegiate soccer with the Virginia Cavaliers from 2003 to 2007. She has previously played professional soccer for Utah Royals FC, FC Kansas City, Washington Freedom, Røa IL, magicJack, and D.C. United. While with FC Kansas City, she won two NWSL Championships. Swope Soccer Village is a soccer complex located within Swope Park in Kansas City, Missouri, first dedicated in 2007 with further renovations completed in 2014. The facility is a public-private partnership between the City of Kansas City's parks department and Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer, with field reservations managed by Sporting Fields + Athletics, the premier sports and facilities management company in the Midwest. Nia Jensen (; born September 19, 1990) is an American retired soccer defender who most recently played for FC Kansas City in the National Women's Soccer League. Early life Born in Roeland Park, Kansas to Huw Williams and Nina Leek, Williams attended and played for St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kansas. 2014 NWSL College Draft
The 2014 NWSL College Draft was the second annual meeting of National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchises to select eligible college players. It was held on January 17, 2014, at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was open to the public. Frances Andrea Silva León (born November 2, 1992) is a Venezuelan-American retired soccer forward and midfielder who played for FC Kansas City. Early life High school Frances attended Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, KS. West Virginia University In her college years, she played for West Virginia Mountaineers women's soccer team.
