FAMAS Award For Best Director
The FAMAS Award for Best Director is one of the major FAMAS Awards, given to the film director who has shown great artistic instincts, choices and excellence in assembling his or her motion picture. The FAMAS Best Director is chosen from the Filipino films shown in the previous calendar year that were screened by the FAMAS. As of the 55th FAMAS Awards, four women have picked up the award, namely Fely Crisostomo, Marilou Diaz-Abaya, Laurice Guillen and Lupita Aquino (Kashiwahara); and twenty-six men. Filipino Academy Of Movie Arts And Sciences Award
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (also known as the FAMAS Awards) are the annual honors given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an organization composed of award-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year. Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans or enthusiasts cast their votes on who should win the statuettes in the different categories they were nominated. Established in 1952, it is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the Philippines (as of 2013) and one of the oldest in Asia. The FAMAS Award, from 1952 to 1982, was the highest Filipino film award a filmmaker or artisan could receive in the local movie industry. Manuel Silos
Manuel Silos (1 January 1906 – 31 March 1988) was an award-winning Filipino film-maker from the 1920s through the 1950s. He began his career by making silent movies together with his brothers. As a ''bodabil'' (vaudeville) actor and comedian, Silos used the stage and screen name Santo Tulia. He appeared in romantic-comedy films such as ''Victory Joe'' in 1946, ''Puppy Love'' in 1956, and '' Tuloy and Ligaya'' (literally "Bliss Continues") in 1958. He became known for his FAMAS-awarded film ''Biyaya ng Lupa'' ("Blessings of the Land"). In 1979, Silos received the Natatanging Gawad Urian. Kamandag
''Kamandag'' (International title: ''Venom'') is a Philippine television drama fantasy series broadcast by GMA Network. The series is based from the graphic novel of Carlo J. Caparas. Directed by Mark A. Reyes and Topel Lee, it stars Richard Gutierrez in the title role. It premiered on November 19, 2007 on the network's Telebabad line up. The series concluded on April 25, 2008 with a total of 113 episodes. It was replaced by ''Dyesebel'' in its timeslot. Pre-production The first project of Eula Valdez under GMA Network. Cirio Hermoso Santiago (January 18, 1936 – September 26, 2008) was a prolific Filipino film producer, director and writer. He used the screen names Cirio Santiago, Cirio H. Santiago and Leonard Hermes. Conrado Conde (born 1911) was a Filipino film director and an actor who made his first acting appearance as an extra in Parlatone Hispano-Filipino ''Carmelita (film), Carmelita'' a Roy de Silva movie and in the 1941 Musical film, musical ''Panambitan''. His last film from LVN Pictures is ''Prinsipe Teñoso'' ("Prince Tenoso", 1942), a swashbuckling movie with Leopoldo Salcedo where he directed his debut. After the war broke, he returned to LVN to direct the movie ''Dalawang Daigdig'' (Two Worlds). His first appearance in Premiere Production was ''Ang Hiwaga ng Tulay na Bato'' (The Mystery of the Stoned-Bridge).
