French Federation of Ice Sports (or French Ice Sports Federation; french: Fédération française des sports de glace or ''FFSG'') is the national governing body for a number of ice sports in France. It manages completely different sports disciplines whose only commonality is that they are practiced on ice. This explains the structural complexity of the organization. A sports governing body is a sports organization that has a regulatory or sanctioning function. Sports governing bodies come in various forms and have a variety of regulatory functions. Examples of this can include disciplinary action for rule infractions and deciding on rule changes in the sport that they govern. Governing bodies have different scopes. They may cover a range of sport at an international level, such as the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, or only a single sport at a national level, such as the Rugby Football League. French Ice Hockey Federation
The French Ice Hockey Federation (french: Fédération française de hockey sur glace (FFHG)) is the governing body of ice hockey in France, as recognized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It was founded in 2006 after separation with the Fédération française des sports de glace (English: French Ice Sports Federation). For the first ten years, the federation had its offices in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Hauts-de-Seine. In 2016, it moved to a new national training center in Cergy, Val-d'Oise. It manages both the amateur and professional games in France, as well as the national teams on junior and senior levels. France is a founding member of the IIHF. Luc Tardif served as the inaugural president of the federation from its inception in 2006 to 2021. Upon his election as president of the IIHF, he was succeeded by Pierre-Yves Gerbeau. Jean Ferrand
Jean Ferrand (died 11 November 1990) was a French ice hockey goaltender and the long-time president of the French Ice Sports Federation. Playing career Ferrand was the goaltender for HC Gap from 1945 to 1956. Executive career Ferrand was the president of the HC Gap from 1954 to 1971. From 1970 to 1983, he acted as the Chairman of the National Committee of French ice hockey. In this capacity, he represented France at the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). In 1984 Ferrand succeeded Pierre-curve Michollet as president of the French Ice Sports Federation, a position he held until his death in 1990. The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. Jacques Favart (30 July 1920 – 27 September 1980) was a French sports official and figure skating, figure skater. He won the French Figure Skating Championships in men's singles in 1942. As a pair skater, he competed with his wife Denise Favart from 1946 to 1950. They placed 14th at the 1948 Winter Olympics. He served as president of the International Skating Union from 1967 to 1980, and of Fédération Française des Sports de Glace from 1968 to 1969.
