Íþróttafélagið Fylkir is a multi-sport club in Árbær, in the eastern part of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. It features departments in football, handball, volleyball, gymnastics and karate. Kit The Fylkir official home kit is combined of an orange jersey, black shorts and orange socks. The away kit is combined of a blue jersey and shorts and white socks. The original kit is combined of a white and blue shirt, white shorts and white socks (alternatively blue socks). History Fylkir was founded in 1967 on May 28 in a newly established suburb of Reykjavik, Árbær, by young and enthusiastic footballers who wanted to train and play football in their own neighbourhood. The Besta deild karla () is the top level men's football league in Iceland. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (May to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2015–16, UEFA ranked the league No. 35 in Europe. From 27 April 2009 to 2022, the league had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. Ásgeir Börkur Ásgeirsson (born ) is an Icelandic footballer who plays as a midfielder for Fylkir, whom he joined from Handknattleiksfélag Kópavogs. Club career Ásgeirsson was born in Reykjavík, and played for Fylkir's youth teams, before joining lower leagues team UMF Selfoss on loan for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008. David Elebert
David Elebert (born 21 March 1986 in Dublin) is an Irish former professional football player who is a coach at NIFL Premiership Ards His uncle Shaun played for Shamrock Rovers and Longford Town in the early 1990s and won the Football Association of Ireland International Schools Player of the Year for 1990/91. Gylfi Einarsson
Gylfi Einarsson (born 27 October 1978, in Reykjavík) is a retired Icelandic football player. He played as a midfielder. Club career He started his career at Fylkir but moved to Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK in 2000. In the 2004 season he scored 13 goals in 26 matches. When his contract expired, he was snapped up by Leeds United, who had to wait until January 2005 to sign him. Gylfi, who was originally seen as a player in the Gary Speed mould, had never been more than a bit-player at Elland Road. This was mainly due to the injury problems that he sustained during his time at the club. Ólafur Þórðarson (; born 22 August 1965) is an Icelandic former footballer, who played as a midfielder. Ólafur is the former coach of Vikingur Reykjavik. He is the brother of Teitur Thordarson, former manager of Estonia when Ólafur played against them with Iceland in 1996. Club career Ólafur started his career at IA Akranes before moving abroad to play in the Norwegian League. He returned to Iceland after four seasons to captain the IA side again and participated in IA Akranes glory years when they won the championship title five consecutive times from 1992–1996. FK Rīga was a Latvian football club based in Riga. They played in the Virslīga, the top division in Latvian football. They played their home games at Latvijas Universitātes Stadions.
