Future Souls
''Future Souls'' is the third studio album from American band Uh Huh Her. Released on March 25, 2014 worldwide and shipped out March 24, the album features dance influences and an electropop background. Two singles from the album were released: "Innocence" on February 4, 2014, and "It's Chemical" on March 4, 2014. Background Like its predecessor ''Nocturnes'', ''Future Souls'' was recorded independently. The band also opted for a more dance-oriented sound. Production began in 2013 when Grey and Hailey decided to start recording in their home. When asked how they have evolved as artists, Grey offers an insightful perspective. “I think it’s about the art of letting go. Not having preconceived expectations of what is going to come out of you. I think for me personally it was a really fluid process. I tried to have a lot more fun with the making of this record. We wanted to go back to our more electronic roots. We went back to the more crispy electronic vibe.” “We set o ...

Uh Huh Her (band)
Uh Huh Her is an American indie/rock/electropop band that was formed in January 2007. The band's name came from an album by artist PJ Harvey, titled '' Uh Huh Her''. Background Camila Grey (lead vocals, guitar, keyboard), former member of the lo-fi rock band Mellowdrone, had not released any solo material prior to joining Uh Huh Her; however, she had played bass and keyboards for a variety of artists, such as Dr. Dre, Melissa Auf der Maur, Busta Rhymes, and Kelly Osbourne. She was also a member of Adam Lambert's live band (keyboardist). Leisha Hailey (backing vocals, bass, keyboard), formerly of The Murmurs and Gush, had temporarily left the music business to join the cast of Showtime's series ''The L Word'' as the character Alice Pieszecki, with the band forming during filming of the final seasons of the show. Originally, drummer Alicia Warrington had been 's third member; however, she separated from the group early on. Uh Huh Her is generally still regarded as a duo, with the ...

Electropop
Electropop is a hybrid music genre combining elements of electronic and pop genres. Writer Hollin Jones has described it as a variant of synth-pop with heavy emphasis on its electronic sound. The genre was developed in the 1980s and saw a revival of popularity and influence in the late 2000s. History Early 1980s During the early 1980s, British artists such as Gary Numan, the Human League, Soft Cell, John Foxx and Visage helped pioneer a new synth-pop style that drew more heavily from electronic music and emphasized primary usage of synthesizers. 21st century Britney Spears' influential fifth studio album '' Blackout'' (2007) incorporated elements of the genre, catapulting electropop to mainstream significance. The media in 2009 ran articles proclaiming a new era of different electropop stars, and indeed the times saw a rise in popularity of several electropop artists. In the Sound of 2009 poll of 130 music experts conducted for the BBC, ten of the top fifteen artist ...

Techno
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat. Artists may use electronic instruments such as drum machines, sequencers, and synthesizers, as well as digital audio workstations. Drum machines from the 1980s such as Roland's TR-808 and TR-909 are highly prized, and software emulations of such retro instruments are popular. Much of the instrumentation in techno emphasizes the role of rhythm over other musical parameters. Techno tracks mainly progress over manipulation of timbral characteristics of synthesizer presets and, unlike forms of EDM that tend to be produced with synthesizer keyboards, techno does not always strictly adhere to the harmonic practice of Western music and such structures are often ignored in favor of timbr ...
