Furthur (bus)
''Furthur'' is a 1939 International Harvester school bus purchased by author Ken Kesey in 1964 to carry his " Merry Band of Pranksters" cross-country, filming their counterculture adventures as they went. The bus featured prominently in Tom Wolfe's 1968 book ''The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test'' but, due to the chaos of the trip and editing difficulties, footage of the journey was not released as a film until the 2011 documentary ''Magic Trip''. History Kesey traveled to New York City in November 1963 with his wife Faye and Prankster George Walker to attend the Broadway opening of '' One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'', which was based on his 1962 novel. Kesey also saw the 1964 New York World's Fair site under construction. He needed to return to New York City in 1964 for the publication party for his novel ''Sometimes a Great Notion'', and hoped to use the occasion to visit the Fair. This plan grew into an ambitious scheme to bring along a group of friends, turning their adventur ...

Further (band)
Further was an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, United States, that evolved from an earlier band, Shadowland. They released several albums during the 1990s. History Further evolved from Shadowland, a sixties-influenced band led by brothers Brent and Darren Rademaker, that released two albums for Geffen Records in 1989 and 1990 (''Shadowland'' and ''The Beauty of Escaping'' respectively). Unlike Shadowland, Further were very much an indie rock band, gaining comparisons with the likes of Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth (Lee Ranaldo even guesting on their debut album). Their second album, '' Sometimes Chimes'', contained 25 tracks, and drew comparisons to Beck, Unrest, Pavement and Sebadoh. Fitzgerald left the group before the release of their third album, ''Grimes Golden'', and the three remaining members traded off on the drumming duties in a volleyball rotation a la Sebadoh. The band became sufficiently popular in the United Kingdom to have records released on C ...

Furthur (band)
Furthur was a rock band founded in 2009 by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. The original lineup also included John Kadlecik of the Dark Star Orchestra on lead guitar, RatDog's Jeff Chimenti on keyboards and Jay Lane on percussion, and Joe Russo of the Benevento/Russo Duo on drums. Named after the famous touring bus used by Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters in the 1960s, Furthur was an improvisational jam band that performed music primarily from the extensive Grateful Dead songbook, as well as their own original music and that of several other well-known artists. In addition to the original members (with the exception of Jay Lane, who left the band in March 2010 to rejoin his previous band, Primus), the band's lineup included backup vocalists Sunshine Becker of the a cappella ensemble SoVoSó and Jeff Pehrson of the folk rock bands Box Set and the Fall Risk. History Four months after Jerry Garcia's death in August 1995, the Grateful Dead officially disban ...

Further (Flying Saucer Attack Album)
''Further'' is the second studio album by the English band Flying Saucer Attack. It was released through Drag City on 17 April 1995. Composition Ned Raggett of AllMusic said that with ''Further'', "the twosome achieved a new balance of delicacy and power, heightened in noticeable part by Pearce's increasingly assertive singing. His vocal approach of extended sigh as singing hadn't changed, but his words had a new clarity and crisper delivery, with fine results. Otherwise, FSA stayed the same general course musically, but again the arrangements provide the difference, with the unplugged folk side of Pearce's music now firmly taking the fore on everalsongs, often with gentle reverb or extra studio effects that make the songs all that much more intriguing. It's not quite Bert Jansch or John Fahey redux, but there's a definite sonic connection there that's well worth the hearing." Despite signing to Drag City, "no compromises were aimed at radio-friendly unit shifters." Mark Richard ...

Further (Solace Album)
''Further'' is the first full-length album from New Jersey heavy metal band Solace. This album's cover art was done by Heavy metal art veteran Wes Benscoter and is entitled "Midnight Mass 2". Recorded by Eric Rachel at Trax East Studios (birthplace of albums from such New Jersey bands as Skid Row and The Misfits), ''Further'' was quickly hailed as an important addition to the independent Doom and Stoner Metal movements. Though comparisons were made to such genre bands as Goatsnake, The Obsessed and Cathedral, ''Further'' was considered by some darker than most works of the Stoner style, and was even compared to the likes of Black Sabbath, Tool, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Originally released in 2000, the US version featured 8 tracks, while the European version contained an additional 2 cover songs. A revamped version featuring these two additional songs was re-released in America in 2005. Track listing German/2000 Vinyl release #A1 "Man Dog" – 7:11 #A2 "Black U ...
