David Furner
David Furner (born 6 February 1971) is an Australian professional rugby league football coach who was the head coach of the Leeds Rhinos, and a former player. He is the former assistant coach for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL, and the former head coach of the Canberra Raiders with whom he spent his whole Australian playing career. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australia national representative goal-kicking second-row forward, he left the Raiders as the third greatest point-scoring forward in NRL history before enjoying a successful career in England with the Wigan Warriors and the Leeds Rhinos. Don Furner
Don Furner (26 December 1932 – 24 February 2020) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. As a player, he represented Queensland on nine occasions and also toured with the 1956–57 Kangaroos. He began his coaching career as a player-coach with Junee in 1964. In that year, the team won their first Group 9 grand final as well as the Maher Cup. In 1965 he began coaching the Queanbeyan Blues, guiding that club to three successive Group 8 premierships (1965–67) and a further two Grand Finals (1968–69). He coached the Eastern Suburbs Roosters (1970–72), whom he took to the 1972 NSWRFL season's premiership final. He returned to the Queanbeyan Blues from 1973 to 1981, his team reaching the Grand Final in each of those nine seasons, including six premierships and a Clayton Cup win in 1974. Fanny Furner
Fanny Furner (1864–1938) was an activist who worked to further the rights of women and children in the early 1900s in Sydney. Accomplishments Fanny Furner was one of the first female JPs in New South WalesNew South Wales Government Gazette, 16 August 1922 and along with fellow member of the Theosophical Society, Mrs AV Roberts, the first women to stand for election in local government - Mrs Roberts in North Shore, Fanny in Manly. Furner was instrumental in setting up a Memorial at the gates at the Wharves in Woolloomooloo to commemorate the place from where most of the men embarked for the First World War. She was also instrumental in getting the Children's Playground near the wharf at Manly built (opposite the police station). Brigadier James Osmond Furner, (25 November 1927 – 17 September 2007) was an Australian military intelligence officer, who was the longest serving Director-General of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) from 1984 to 1992. Military career After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Melbourne and working as a school teacher, Furner embarked on a career change and enlisted in the Australian Army, becoming one of the first cadets to be trained at the Officer Cadet School, Portsea. Luke Furner
Luke Lidiard Furner (1837 – 24 June 1912) was a politician in colonial South Australia, Commissioner of Public Works 1886 to 1887. Furner was born in Lymington, Hampshire, England, and at his Age of majority travelled to Melbourne, Australia, in the ''Mermaid'', later moving to Adelaide, South Australia. Furner was in business in Goolwa and Moonta, South Australia, where he founded the auctioneering firm of Moody, Furner, and Co. which lasted until 1885. Furner was mayor of the Corporate Town of Moonta three times and was Worshipful Master of the local Lodge of Freemasons. Furner was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly for Wallaroo on 5 April 1878, a seat he held until 8 April 1890.
