Ashrita Furman (born Keith Furman, September 16, 1954) is a ''Guinness World Records'' record-breaker. As of 2017, Furman has set more than 600 official Guinness Records and currently holds 530 records, thus holding the Guinness world record for the most Guinness world records. He has been breaking records since 1979. Life and records Early life Furman was born in 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. He was fascinated with the ''Guinness Book of World Records'' as a child but never thought he could ever break a record since he was very unathletic. Dean Furman (born 22 June 1988) is a South African professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for English side Warrington Rylands 1906. Dmitri Yefimovich Furman (russian: Дми́трий Ефи́мович Фу́рман ''Dmitrij Yefimovič Furman''; 28 February 1943 – 22 July 2011) was a Russian political scientist, sociologist, and expert on religions. The ''New Left Review'' called him "Russia’s leading comparative scholar on the political systems of post-Soviet states". Gabriel Furman (January 23, 1800 Brooklyn, Kings County, New York — November 11, 1854 Brooklyn) was an American lawyer, historian and politician from New York. Life He was the son of Judge William Furman (1765–1852). From 1814 to 1816, he attended Columbia Academy, in Bergen Square. In 1824, he publishe''Notes Geographical and Historical, Relating to the Town of Brooklyn in Kings County on Long Island''(on-line version; 117 pages). He was a justice of the Brooklyn Municipal Court from 1827 to 1830. He was a member of the New York State Senate (1st D.) from 1839 to 1842, sitting in the 62nd, 63rd, 64th and 65th New York State Legislatures. In November 1842 he ran on the Whig ticket for Lieutenant Governor of New York, but was defeated by Democrat Daniel S. Dickinson. Jason Furman (born August 18, 1970) is an American economist and professor at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. On June 10, 2013, Furman was named by President Barack Obama as chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA). Furman has also served as the deputy director of the U.S. National Economic Council, which followed his role as an advisor for the Barack Obama 2008 presidential campaign. Lucy S. Furman (June 7, 1870 – August 24, 1958) was an American novelist, short story writer, and animal rights activist. Her fiction was a foundational influence on what would become Appalachian literature. Biography Lucy Furman was born in Henderson County, Kentucky on June 7, 1869. After her parents’ death early in her life, she moved to Evansville, Indiana. She eventually returned to Kentucky to attend Sayre School in Lexington, graduating in 1885. Upon her graduation, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, before moving back to Evansville, where she would live and work independently. In 1894, ''Century Magazine'' published some of Furman's short stories. The magazine began to serialize these stories, which were based on her observations of Henderson. Richard Furman (9 October 1755 – 25 August 1825) was a Baptist leader from Charleston, South Carolina, United States. He was elected in 1814 as the first president of the Triennial Convention, the first nationwide Baptist association. Later he was the first president of the South Carolina State Baptist Convention. Early years Furman was born in Esopus, New York. He was raised in Charleston, South Carolina in a family of evangelical Calvinists. He had little formal education, but was taught mathematics and sciences by his father and taught himself several languages including Latin, Greek and Hebrew. Semyon Abramovich Furman (December 1, 1920 – March 17, 1978) was a Soviet chess player and trainer of Belarussian Jewish origin. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 1966. Furman is best known for developing Anatoly Karpov into a World Chess Champion, but was a formidable player himself, as well as a successful coach for several other world-class players.
