Fura (food)
Fura or doonu is a type of food originating from West Africa’s Sahel region and that is popular among the Zarma-Songhai, Fulani and Hausa peoples of the Sahel. It is a millet dough ball, with "fura" meaning millet ball. It is also eaten in Niger and Ghana. Certainly, the making of the classic dish, fura da nono (seasoned, boiled millet balls served with sour milk), represents such a blending of food resources and styles of cuisine. This suggests that a transfer of the cuisine of fura served with sour ... The millet is grounded into a powdered form, rolled and molded into balls, then mashed and mixed with ''Nono'' - a fermented milk. The combination of fura and nono is known as Fura Da Nono, a locally-made drink that contains carbohydrate and fiber. The fura food and the fura da nono drink are popular in Northern Nigeria. They are served during special occasions and as a meal in the afternoons. Preparation Ingredients * Ground millet or Guinea corn * Ground peppers * Dried ...

SEAT Fura
The SEAT Fura was a supermini car which was produced by Spanish car manufacturer SEAT between 1981 and 1986, and based on the Fiat 127, which had been built by the firm since April 1972. Once the license to the 127 had expired, SEAT was forced to develop a new version with a new name which was introduced in end of 1981 for the model year of 1982. It was available in three and five door hatchback body styles. Sales commenced in January 1982. The two and four door sedan versions of the Fiat 127 were discontinued. The Fura was never available with the larger 1,010 cc unit which was seen in the SEAT 127, but did receive the five speed manual transmission as standard. After the facelift of 1983, the SEAT Fura Dos (two) was introduced: it didn’t differ much from its predecessor mainly through smaller headlights and turn signals. The launch of the first generation SEAT Ibiza in April 1984 made the car largely redundant. For slightly more than one year, these two compact hatche ...

Fura-2
Fura-2, an aminopolycarboxylic acid, is a ratiometric fluorescent dye which binds to free intracellular calcium. It was the first widely used dye for calcium imaging, and remains very popular. Fura-2 is excited at 340  nm and 380 nm of light, and the ratio of the emissions at those wavelengths is directly related to the amount of intracellular calcium. Regardless of the presence of calcium, Fura-2 emits at 510 nm of light. The use of the ratio automatically cancels out confounding variables, such as variable dye concentration and cell thickness, making Fura-2 one of the most appreciated tools to quantify calcium levels. The high photon yield of fura-2 allowed the first real time (video rate) measurements of calcium inside living cells in 1986. More recently, genetically-encoded calcium indicators based on spectral variants of the green fluorescent protein, such as Cameleons, have supplemented the use of Fura-2 and other small molecule dyes for calcium imaging, but F ...

Nigist Fura
Furra or Fura was a medieval queen (''Nigist'') of the Sidama region in southern Ethiopia. According to oral tradition, she ruled for about seven years in the 14th or 15th century, encouraging the women and oppressing the men, especially the bald, old and short ones. Her reign ended when the men tricked her into a ride upon a wild steed, which tore her apart. Places in Sidama are still named after her body parts, which were scattered in this last ride. Early life There are no written records from that time so her history is based upon oral tradition. According to this, she was born around the fourteenth or fifteenth century in Sidama. She was of the Sidama people, but there is no agreement on her clan. It has been suggested that she may have been from Hawella Gadire, Yanassie, Kusaye or Sawolla. She was the first child of a first wife and this gave her status and privilege. Some accounts say that she married a powerful chief, Dingama Koyya, who was known for his great power, ...

Fura-2-acetoxymethyl Ester
Fura-2-acetoxymethyl ester, often abbreviated Fura-2AM, is a membrane-permeant derivative of the ratiometric calcium indicator Fura-2 used in biochemistry to measure cellular calcium concentrations by fluorescence Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, tha .... When added to cells, Fura-2AM crosses cell membranes and once inside the cell, the acetoxymethyl groups are removed by cellular esterases. Removal of the acetoxymethyl esters regenerates "Fura-2", the pentacarboxylate calcium indicator. Measurement of Ca2+-induced fluorescence at both 340 nm and 380 nm allows for calculation of calcium concentrations based 340/380 ratios. The use of the ratio automatically cancels out certain variables such as local differences in fura-2 concentration or cell thickness that would otherwi ...

Fura-Pawa
El Molo is a possibly extinct language belonging to the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family. It was spoken by the El Molo people on the southeastern shore of Lake Turkana, in northern Kenya. Alternate names to El Molo are Dehes, Elmolo, Fura-Pawa, and Ldes. It was thought to be extinct in the middle part of the 20th century, but a few speakers were found in the later 20th century. However, it may now be truly extinct, as the eight speakers found in a survey published in 1994 were over 50. Most of the El Molo population have shifted to the neighboring Samburu language. El Molo also has no known dialects but it is similar to Daasanach Oral tradition sees the El Molo people as an offshoot of the Arbore people in South Ethiopia. This seems to be confirmed by El Molo's linguistic proximity to the Arbore language. Classification The possibly extinct El Molo language belonged to the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic classification. The Cushitic languages are only ...
