Emma Maddox Funck
Emma Maddox Funck (November 19, 1853 – March 21, 1940) was an American suffragist and served as president of the Maryland Woman Suffrage Association (MWSA). Biography Funck was born in Baltimore on November 19, 1853, where she attended public school, graduating from Eastern High School. Her sister, Etta Haynie Maddox, was the first Maryland woman to pass the state bar. Funck attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music and was involved in music in Baltimore. She also sang, performing with her sister, Etta. She married a member of the Men's League for Woman Suffrage, Dr. J. William Funck, in 1892. Emma Funck led the Baltimore City Society starting in 1897 and continued until 1920. She became the president of the Maryland Women Suffrage Association (MWSA) in 1904, also holding that position until 1920. Eva Rose-Marie Funck Beskow (born ''Årlin''; 28 May 1956, in Stockholm) is a Swedish voice acting, voice actress, children's television series Television presenter, host and puppeteer (created ''Höna-Pöna''). In 1975 she was married to Thomas Funck and they have a son Gustav Funck, Gustav. Now she is married to Erland Beskow. Frantz Funck-Brentano
Frantz Funck-Brentano (15 June 1862 – 13 June 1947) was a French historian and librarian. He was born in the castle of Munsbach (Luxembourg) and died at Montfermeil. He was a son of Théophile Funck-Brentano. Biography After graduating at a young age from the prestigious École Nationale des Chartes, Frantz Funck-Brentano was in 1885 named curator of the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal, of which he never became director. His research focused especially on the Ancien Régime, primarily because this library housed the archive of documents from the Bastille, which represented an incomparable source for the history, in particular the political history of the Ancien Régime. Funck-Bentano himself compiled the voluminous and exhaustive catalogue of this archive while he was curator. Frederik Christian Funck
Frederik Christian Funck (30 August 1783 – 2 December 1866) was a Denmark, Danish cellist and composer. He was the brother of Peter Ferdinand Funck and nephew of Claus Schall, Claus and Peder Schall, all also musicians. From the age of 10, Funck was taught by his maternal uncle Peder Schall, himself an accomplished cellist. On 20 January 1798, at the age of 14, he performed at a concert organised by the Danish Golden Age composer Christoph Ernst Friedrich Weyse. The following year he joined the Royal Danish Orchestra, which lays claim to being the world's oldest orchestra, having been in existence in some form since 1448. In 1815 he went on a concert tour of Russia, Finland and Sweden. In 1817, after his return to Denmark, he regularly performed in Copenhagen. Hans Freiherr Von Funck
Hans von Funck (23 December 1891 – 14 February 1979) was a German general in the Wehrmacht during World War II, who commanded the 7th Panzer Division and the XXXXVII Panzer Corps. Career Hans von Funck joined the German army in August 1914 and during World War I he was awarded the Iron Cross, 1st and 2nd Class. Funck was retained in the Reichswehr after the war. In July 1933 he was appointed to the General Staff. In 1936 he served in the Spanish Civil War as a leader of the German National Army in Spain. In 1940 he was appointed as the commander of the 3rd Panzer Brigade. In 1941 Funck was given command of the 7th Panzer Division as the successor to Erwin Rommel. Originally he was to have commanded the Afrika Corps, but Hitler loathed von Funck, as he had been a personal staff officer of Werner von Fritsch until von Fritsch was dismissed in 1938. Heinrich Christian Funck
Heinrich Christian Funck (22 November 1771 – 14 April 1839) was a German pharmacist and bryologist born in Wunsiedel, Bavaria. He was a co-founder of the Regensburg Botanical Society. He received early training at a pharmacy in Regensburg, subsequently studying in Salzburg, Erlangen and Jena. In 1803 he acquired the family-owned pharmacy in Gefrees, from where he performed research of cryptogams, especially bryophytes. He conducted botanical investigations in the nearby Fichtelgebirge, and also organized excursions to the Salzburg Alps, Italy, Switzerland, et al. In 1834 he sold the pharmacy in Gefrees in order to devote more time and energy to botany. Funck died of a stroke in Gefrees on 14 April 1839.
