Fun In The Key Of E
Three Leaning Men were a New Zealand 1980s indie band from Palmerston North who recorded one LP, ''Fun in the Key of E'', released by Meltdown Records. The band's debut performance was supporting Sneaky Feelings at the Massey University Social Hall. They also supported Hunters and Collectors, the Chills and New Order. The band was formed by Lindsay Gregg (guitar), Rhys Bevan (bass) and Nigel Corbett (drums) and joined by second guitarist Greg Malcolm. Rhys Bevan was replaced by Alan Gregg during the recording of their album. Alan Gregg (musician)
Alan Gregg is a New Zealand musician, originally from Palmerston North, now based in London. Originally a keyboard player, Alan has mainly played bass guitar in his professional life. After moving to Auckland, New Zealand, Alan was a member of the Dribbling Darts of Love before joining The Mutton Birds, which he was part of from 1992–1998 (and again, returning for live shows, in 2001). In The Mutton Birds he contributed bass, vocals, keyboards and wrote a number of songs. After leaving the Mutton Birds, he acted as a producer and studio and touring musician before recording his first solo album, under the name Marshmallow in 2002. Other musicians on the album included Bic Runga, Ron Sexsmith, and Andrew Claridge. Meltdown Records
Meltdown Records is a small independent record label established by Union University student Peter Kakljugin in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2012. The first recording was by a band called Dosage B which was led by Jeremy Corbett who subsequently became a well known radio host in New Zealand. Meltdown released 10 records in a 4-year period, including an EP by The Remarkables and an album by Three Leaning Men titled Fun in the Key of E, both early bands of New Zealand musician Alan Gregg. Sneaky Feelings
Sneaky Feelings are a New Zealand pop rock band which releases on the Flying Nun Records music label. The band formed in 1980 with the line-up of Matthew Bannister (guitar & vocals), David Pine (guitar & vocals), Kat Tyrie (bass guitar & vocals) and Martin Durrant (drums & vocals). Tyrie was replaced by John Kelcher in 1984. Durrant was temporarily replaced by Ross Burge in 1988 for the band's second tour of Europe. Sneaky Feelings are unusual among Dunedin sound bands in that all four members of the band sing and write songs. The jangle sound of the guitars and layered vocals drew their influence from the music of the Byrds and the Beatles, and comparisons can be made with some of California's Paisley Underground bands. Hunters And Collectors
Hunters & Collectors are an Australian rock band formed in 1981. Fronted by founding mainstay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour, they developed a blend of pub rock and art-funk. Other mainstays are John Archer on bass guitar, Doug Falconer on drums and percussion. Soon after forming they were joined by Jack Howard on trumpet and keyboards, Jeremy Smith on French horn, guitars and keyboards, and Michael Waters on trombone and keyboards. Also acknowledged as a founder was engineer and art designer Robert Miles. Joining in 1988, Barry Palmer, on lead guitar, remained until they disbanded in 1998. The Mutton Birds
The Mutton Birds were a New Zealand rock music group formed in Auckland in 1991 by Ross Burge, David Long and Don McGlashan, with Alan Gregg joining a year later. Four of their albums reached the top 10 on the New Zealand Albums Chart, ''The Mutton Birds'' (1992), '' Salty'' (1994), '' Envy of Angels'' (1996) and '' Rain, Steam and Speed'' (1999).
