Fulwood, Lancashire
Fulwood is an area and unparished area in Lancashire, England, forming much of the northern half of the unparished part of the City of Preston district. It had a population of 28,535 in 2011 and is made up of five wards. For several reasons, despite its close proximity to Preston, it has remained distinctly separated. Historically, Fulwood was governed independently from Preston until 1974. Furthermore, since the majority of the area is encompassed under The Fulwood Conservation Area, it has remained geographically separate from Preston. Ribbleton Railway Station
Ribbleton railway station was on the Preston and Longridge Railway in Ribbleton, a suburb of Preston, Lancashire, England. When the station opened in 1854 it was at first called Gammer Lane (which appears to be a misspelling of Gamull Lane, on which the station was located). Two years later, the line was bought by the Fleetwood, Preston and West Riding Junction Railway and the station was renamed Fulwood Station. Between 1863 and 1866 there was another short-lived station called ''Ribbleton'', closer to Preston. It was not until 1900 that Fulwood Station was finally renamed Ribbleton Station. The station closed to passengers, along with the line, in 1930. The line through the station continued to be used for goods trains to and from Courtaulds Red Scar Works Preston, Courtaulds Red Scar Works until 1980. Skegby Rural District
Skegby was a rural district in Nottinghamshire, England from 1894 to 1935. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on that part of the Mansfield rural sanitary district which was in Nottinghamshire (the rest becoming Blackwell Rural District in Derbyshire). It consisted of the parishes of Blidworth, Fulwood, Haywood Oaks, Lindhurst, Skegby, Sookholme and Teversal. In 1935 the district was abolished under a County Review Order. Some urbanised parts went to Warsop and Sutton in Ashfield urban districts, with the rest going mainly to Southwell Rural District and part to Basford Rural District Basford was a rural district close to Nottingham, England, from 1894 to 1974. Fulwood is a residential suburb and ward of the City of Sheffield in England, it lies 5.5 km west-southwest of the city centre. Formerly an ancient settlement and village on the Porter Brook, it became integrated into the city in the 1930s. It is bounded by the suburbs of Lodge Moor to the NW, Ranmoor to the east and Crosspool to the NE. The open countryside of the Peak District lies to the west and SW. Fulwood ward—which includes the districts of Fulwood, Lodge Moor, and Ranmoor—is one of the 28 electoral wards in the City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the far western part of the city and covers an area of 23.2 km2. The population of this ward in 2011 was 18,233 people in 6,476 households. Fulwood ward is one of the five wards that make up the Sheffield Hallam Parliamentary constituency. In the 2004 local elections John Knight, Janice Sidebottom, and Andrew Sangar, all Liberal Democrats, were returned as councillors for the newly drawn ward. The current Member of Parliament is Labour's Olivia Blake.
