Full Radius Dance is a professional modern dance company in the field of physically integrated dance based in Atlanta. He began teaching classes for people with disabilities in 1993 through a partnership with VSA Arts of Georgia, and in 1995 formed a sister company for dancers with disabilities called E=Motion. Douglas Scott (choreographer)
Douglas Scott is an American artistic director, choreographer and dancer. Scott has received numerous awards for his work and is the founder and Artistic Director of Full Radius Dance. Scott founded Dance Force, a traditional modern dance company, in 1990. He began working with dancers with disabilities in 1993, leading to the founding of Full Radius Dance as a physically integrated modern dance company. He is also the founder of the Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, which has been produced annually since 1995 to critical and popular acclaim. Work As the primary choreographic voice for Full Radius Dance, Scott has created numerous dance works that have been premiered by the company. Modern dance is a broad genre of western concert or theatrical dance which included dance styles such as ballet, folk, ethnic, religious, and social dancing; and primarily arose out of Europe and the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was considered to have been developed as a rejection of, or rebellion against, classical ballet, and also a way to express social concerns like socioeconomic and cultural factors. The physically integrated dance movement is part of the disability culture movement, which recognizes and celebrates the first-person experience of disability, not as a medical model construct but as a social phenomenon, through artistic, literary, and other creative means. Causes Prenatal disabilities are acquired before birth. These may be due to diseases or substances that the mother has been exposed to during pregnancy, embryonic or fetal developmental accidents or genetic disorders. Perinatal disabilities are acquired between some weeks before to up to four weeks after birth in humans. These can be due to prolonged lack of oxygen or obstruction of the respiratory tract, damage to the brain during birth (due to the accidental misuse of forceps, for example) or the baby being born prematurely. The Harlem School Of The Arts
Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) is an art school in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City. Harlem School of the Arts was founded in 1964, by soprano Dorothy Maynor.
