Fujishima, Yamagata
was a List of towns of Japan, town located in Higashitagawa District, Yamagata, Higashitagawa District, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 11,922 and a population density, density of 188.58 persons per km². The total area was 63.22 km². is a Japanese chemist and president of Tokyo University of Science. He is known for significant contributions to the discovery and research of photocatalytic and superhydrophilic properties of titanium dioxide (TiO2), which is also known as the '' Honda-Fujishima effect''.(Originally published in Japanese 2 December 2003) Career and research In 1966 he earned his B. Kōsuke Fujishima
is a Japanese manga artist. He is known for his love of automobiles and motorcycles, and several of his series and their characters reflect this, such as in ''éX-Driver'' and ''Oh My Goddess!''. Early life and career Born in Chiba, Japan, he first came to public attention as an editor of ''Puff'' magazine, his first job after completing high school. Fujishima originally intended to be a draftsman, but took the editorial role after failing to get a drafting apprenticeship. Fujishima Shrine
is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Fukui, Japan. In the former Modern system of ranked Shinto Shrines, it was a special shrine (別格官幣社, ''Bekkaku Kanpei-sha''). Its main festival is held annually on August 25. was the head of the Nitta clan in the early fourteenth century, and supported the Southern Court of Emperor Go-Daigo in the Nanboku-chō period. He fought against the partisans of the Northern pretender led by Ashikaga Takauji brothers in a see-saw campaign which saw the capital change hands several times. However, during the Battle of Kuromaru in 1338 he was killed in combat. In 1660, a farmer tilling the land near the site of the battle uncovered a ''kabuto'' helmet and presented it to Matsudaira Mitsumichi, ''daimyō'' of Fukui Domain. Akinoumi Setsuo
, born , was a Japanese professional sumo wrestler from Hiroshima. He was the sport's 37th ''yokozuna''. Career Akinoumi made his professional debut in February 1932 and reached the top ''makuuchi'' division in January 1938. He was the man who ended Futabayama's record 69 bout winning streak in January 1939. As he was only ranked as a ''maegashira'' at the time, it was regarded as an enormous upset. He defeated the ''yokozuna'' by '' sotogake'', an outer leg trip. He had practiced this technique in training with Komanosato, who had been Futabayama's 69th and final defeated opponent. Musōyama Masashi
Musōyama Masashi (born February 14, 1972 as Takehito Oso) is a former sumo wrestler from Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. A former amateur champion, he turned professional in January 1993, and he won promotion to the top ''makuuchi'' division in just four tournaments. He won thirteen special prizes and spent a total of 31 tournaments at ''komusubi'' and ''sekiwake'' before finally reaching the second highest rank of '' ōzeki'' in 2000, shortly after winning his only top division tournament championship or ''yūshō.'' Fujishima Takeji
was a Japanese people, Japanese painter, noted for his work in developing Romanticism and impressionism within the ''yoga (art), yōga'' (Western-style) art movement in late 19th- and early 20th-century Japanese painting. In his later years, he was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement. Tsuneoki Fujishima
, also known as Ikeda Nobuteru (池田 信輝), was an Ikeda clan '' daimyō'' and military commander under Oda Nobunaga during the Sengoku period and Azuchi–Momoyama periods of 16th-century Japan.
