Fuel is an American rock band formed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by guitarist-songwriter Carl Bell in 1989. They are known for their hit songs " Shimmer" from the album ''Sunburn'', "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" and " Bad Day" from the album ''Something Like Human'', as well as "Falls on Me" from the album ''Natural Selection''. The band has numerous top 10 '' Billboard'' rock hits, multiple videos in heavy rotation on MTV, numerous live network TV performances in the US, Canada, and Australia, platinum singles in Australia in addition to the US, and numerous songs on film soundtracks such as ''Scream 3'', ''Daredevil'', and ''Godzilla''. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. Lyrics are typically angst-filled and introspective, often addressing themes such as social alienation, self-doubt, abuse, neglect, betrayal, social and emotional isolation, addiction, psychological trauma and a desire for freedom. Carl Bell (musician)
Carl William Bell (born January 9, 1967) is an American songwriter, record producer, arranger, engineer, and mixer. He founded the multi-platinum selling hard rock band Fuel in 1989, serving as the principal lyricist, lead guitarist, and record producer for the band during its inception and peak commercial success. He has written singles such as " Shimmer", "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)", and " Bad Day" as well as many other songs. He also co-produced all Fuel records including the Grammy nominated ''Natural Selection'' (2003). Although often a backing vocalist for the band, Bell never performed as a lead singer until releasing his first solo project in 2017. "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" was the No. 1 Active Rock song for 13 weeks and became the No. 5 Rock Song of the Decade, according to ''Billboard''s Best of the 2000s Rock Songs Charts. ''Porcelain'' is Fuel's third EP. The self-released compact disc sold over 5,000 copies. It was recorded, mixed and produced by Randy Lane and Carl Bell. Content Released in 1996, this EP contains songs that were recorded for their debut studio album, ''Sunburn''. Only two songs, “Nothing” and “Sunday Girl”, did not make it to the final album, however, “Sunday Girl” was played live throughout the ''Sunburn'' tour and released on the “Shimmer” single.
