Fuck The Kids
''Fuck the Kids'' is a 7" EP by NOFX. All the tracks were recorded in one day over the course of about four hours. Fat Mike had written all the songs, but none of the other band members knew them. Mike would teach the band the song, they would record it, keeping the first take where the band actually managed to make it through the whole song, and then move on. Mike refers to it as "sloppiness in pure form. You can't fake that kind of sloppiness." The EP was later included on the second disc of '' 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records'', but with one track omitted ("Stupid Canadians") in order to preserve the uniqueness of the original 7" release.Liner notes of '' 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough To Go On Our Other Records'' The first 500 copies were pressed on clear-green vinyl, while all others appeared on black vinyl. NOFX
NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin and drummer Erik Sandin are original founding and longest-serving members of the band, who have appeared on every release of the band, although Sandin departed briefly in 1985, only to rejoin the following year. El Hefe joined the band in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. NOFX's mainstream success coincided with increased interest in punk rock during the 1990s, though, unlike many of their contemporaries (including Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Offspring), they have never been signed to a major label. Fat Wreck Chords (pronounced "Fat Records") is a San Francisco, California-based independent record label, focused on punk rock. It was started by NOFX lead singer Michael Burkett (better known as Fat Mike) in 1990. Heavy Petting Zoo
''Heavy Petting Zoo'' (known as ''Eating Lamb'' on the LP version) is the sixth studio album by the American punk rock band NOFX. It was released on January 31, 1996, through Epitaph Records. The record reached a position of No. 63 on the American ''Billboard'' 200 Albums chart, the first NOFX album to do so. In Austria ''Heavy Petting Zoo'' peaked at No. 20, while the album achieved the No. 13 position in both Sweden and Finland. Music NOFX recorded the album in October 1995 with Ryan Greene at the Razor's Edge studio, San Francisco, a garage described by the band as "a total dive". The music on ''Heavy Petting Zoo'' has been complimented as "melodic", and the album has been favorably compared to the band's 1991 ''Ribbed'' LP, but although tracks like "Hobophobic (Scared of Bums)" and "Freedom Lika Shopping Cart" have been lauded for their witty titles, they have also been criticized for being overly cynical. ''So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes'' is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band NOFX. It was released on November 11, 1997 through Epitaph Records. Overview The title is inspired by the fourth book of Douglas Adams's ''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' series, ''So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish'', and refers to the frequent occurrence of fans throwing footwear at the band during their live shows. The album was recorded at San Francisco's Motor Studios in August 1997 and was produced by Fat Mike and regular Fat Wreck Chords producer Ryan Greene. The liner notes for the album claim it is 'arguably their third best album' (up to that point) although Fat Mike has referred to it as his favourite one on several occasions. Fat Mike
Michael John Burkett (born January 16, 1967), known professionally as Fat Mike, is an American musician and producer. He is the bassist and lead vocalist for the punk rock band NOFX and the bassist for the punk rock supergroup cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Fat Mike started out with his first band False Alarm in 1982. He credits Joe Escalante of the Vandals for introducing him to punk rock when he was 13 at a summer camp. Musical career While attending Beverly Hills High School, Mike began his musical career with the band False Alarm. After the band split up in 1983, he met Eric Melvin and Erik Sandin and formed the original line-up of NOFX. He has also appeared as a guest-vocalist on a number of other bands' tracks including "Peter Brady" on Screeching Weasel's 1993 album, ''Anthem for a New Tomorrow''. ''45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records'' is a double album released in 2002 by NOFX. There were 47 songs on the CD version, and all the songs easily fit onto one CD. The band built up a list of songs that did not make it onto any of their albums, or had previously appeared on compilation albums, vinyl singles, or b-sides. Many of these had been dropped originally because of Fat Mike's tendency to not release albums that ran for too long. The first CD contained a collection of songs spanning almost the entirety of the band's career. The oldest track was from the band's first demo, and the newest was recorded for this album. The second CD contained the EPs ''Fuck the Kids'' and '' Surfer'', each of which contained 13 or so very short songs that were previously available only on 7" vinyl. Fat Mike chose to leave one song off of each of the EPs when compiling this CD, "just to annoy people a bit". The vinyl release of the album was renamed to ''22 Songs ... Propagandhi
Propagandhi is a Canadian punk rock band formed in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1986 by guitarist Chris Hannah and drummer Jord Samolesky. The band is currently located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and completed by bassist Todd Kowalski and guitarist Sulynn Hago. While their earlier work was aligned with the punk rock and skate punk tradition, in later years Propagandhi records have moved towards a heavier and more technical heavy metal-influenced sound.
