Frătăuții Vechi
Frătăuții Vechi (german: Alt Fratautz, Alt-Frautautz, Alt-Deutsch-Fratautz) is a commune located in Suceava County, Bukovina, northeastern Romania. It is composed of two villages: namely Frătăuții Vechi and Măneuți ( hu, Andrásfalva). From 1786 to 1941, Măneuți village was inhabited by the Székelys of Bukovina. During the 1780s, 16 ethnic German families settled in Frătăuții Vechi in the course of the Josephine colonization (german: Josephinische Siedlung). Late modern period history As it is the case of other rural settlements from the countryside of Suceava County, Frătăuții Vechi (just like Frătăuții Noi for example) was previously inhabited by a sizable German community, more specifically by Bukovina Germans during the late Modern Age up until the mid 20th century, starting as early as the Habsburg period and, later on, the Austro-Hungarian period. A commune (''comună'' in Romanian language, Romanian) is the lowest level of administrative subdivision in Romania. There are 2,686 communes in Romania. The commune is the rural subdivision of a Counties of Romania, county. In principle, a commune can contain any size population, but in practice, when a commune becomes relatively urbanised and exceeds approximately 10,000 residents, it is usually granted city status. 2020 Romanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Romania on 27 September 2020. Initially planned for June 2020, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led the Government of Romania to postpone the elections to a date no later than 31 December 2020, and extending all the terms of the local offices due to expire on 5 June 2020. The aforementioned decision was deemed unconstitutional, and, in the end, a law was passed that extended the terms of the local officials up to 30 November 2020, and allowed the elections to be called by the Parliament, rather than by the Government, no later than that day. On 8 July 2020, the Parliament of Romania adopted a law setting the date of the elections on 27 September 2020. Modest Isopescu
Modest Isopescu (30 November 1895 – 17 October 1948) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian officer, administrator and convicted war criminal. Born in Frătăuții Vechi, in Austrian-ruled Bukovina,Octavian Roske (ed.), ''Mecanisme represive în România 1945-1989: dicționar biografic'', vol. III, p. 274. Dimitrie Isopescu
Dimitrie C. Isopescu (October 3, 1839 – May 1, 1901) was an Austro-Hungarian teacher and politician. Biography Born into an ethnic Romanian family in Frătăuții Vechi, in the Bukovina region of the Austrian Empire, his parents were the Romanian Orthodox priest Constantin and his wife Ana (''née'' Brăilean), a native of nearby Bilca. He had two brothers, Gheorghe and Nicolae. Claudiu Isopescu
Claudiu Isopescu ( – April 1, 1956) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian literary historian and translator. Born into a well-read family Frătăuții Vechi, in the Bukovina region of Austria-Hungary, he graduated from the Greek Orthodox Gymnasium in Suceava in 1912. He then entered Czernowitz University, interrupting his studies during World War I. Following the incorporation of Bukovina into Romania at the war's conclusion, he enrolled in the literature faculty of the University of Bucharest. In 1919, he obtained a ''magna cum laude'' degree in modern philology, with a speciality in Italian. From 1920 to 1923, he taught Italian and German at Bucharest's Matei Basarab High School. Moving to Italy in 1923, he was a member of the '' Accademia di Romania'' for the next two years. Alliance For The Union Of Romanians
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians ( ro, Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor, AUR) is a right-wing populist and nationalist political party currently active in Romania and Moldova. Social Democratic Party (Romania)
The Social Democratic Party ( ro, Partidul Social Democrat, PSD) is the largest social democratic political party in Romania and also the largest overall political party in the country, aside from European Parliament level, where it is the second largest by total number of MEPs, after the National Liberal Party (PNL). The National Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Național Liberal, PNL) is a liberal-conservative political party in Romania (and the second largest overall political party in the country as of 2022).
