David Shearer
David James Shearer (born 28 July 1957) is a New Zealand United Nations worker and politician. He was a member of the New Zealand Parliament for the Labour Party from 2009 to 2016, serving as Leader of the Opposition from 2011 to 2013. Moana Mackey
Moana Lynore Mackey (born 28 February 1974) is a New Zealand politician and has represented the New Zealand Labour Party in the New Zealand Parliament from 2003 until 2014. She has Māori, Irish, Scottish and Spanish ancestry. Early life and career Born in Auckland, New Zealand and raised in Gisborne, Mackey attended Mangapapa Primary School, Ilminster Intermediate and Lytton High School. While in high school, Mackey would participate in Young Labour, the New Zealand Youth Orchestra and Youth Parliament. Sue Moroney
Suzanne Mary Moroney (born 8 May 1964), generally known as Sue Moroney, is a New Zealand politician. She is a member of the New Zealand Labour Party and was a Member of Parliament from 2005 general election until her retirement in 2017. Early life Sue Moroney was raised in the Waikato. Her parents farmed 66 acres of land to provide an income for their family of seven. She grew up in Walton and attended Walton Primary School and also spent time in Matamata. Her family are keenly involved in horse racing. Parekura Horomia
Parekura Tureia Horomia (9 November 1950 – 29 April 2013) was a New Zealand Labour Party politician who served as Minister of Māori Affairs between 2000 and 2008. Early life Horomia was born in Tolaga Bay of Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga Hauiti, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāi Tahu descent. He had seven brothers and sisters. As a schoolboy he used to walk five kilometres to school and back without shoes. In his early life, he worked as a manual labourer, then as a printer in the newspaper industry. Later, Horomia became involved in the Department of Labour's East Coast work schemes and was appointed to supervisory positions—rising to general manager of the Community Employment Group by 1992. Clare Elizabeth Curran (born 1960) is a New Zealand former politician who served as a member of the New Zealand Parliament for Dunedin South from 2008 to 2020. Darien Elizabeth Fenton (born 25 February 1954) is a New Zealand politician and was a Member of Parliament from until her retirement in 2014. Dame Annette Faye King (née Robinson, born 13 September 1947) is a former New Zealand politician. Philip Bruce Goff (born 22 June 1953) is a New Zealand politician. He was a member of the New Zealand Parliament from 1981 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 2016. He served as leader of the Labour Party and leader of the Opposition between 11 November 2008 and 13 December 2011. Senior Whip Of The Labour Party
The New Zealand Labour Party's Senior Whip administers the " whipping in" system that tries to ensure that party MPs attend and vote according to the party leadership's wishes. The position is elected by the Labour caucus members. The Senior Whip also acts as an intermediary between the backbenchers and the party leadership. Whenever Labour is in government the senior whip serves as the Chief Government Whip and when out of government serves as Chief Opposition Whip.
