Fronhausen
Fronhausen is a municipality in the south of Marburg-Biedenkopf district in the administrative region of Gießen (region), Gießen in Hessen, Germany. The municipal area stretches along the district's southern boundary in the Lahn valley and its environs between Marburg and Gießen, and borders in the north on the community of Weimar (Lahn), Weimar, in the east on the community of Ebsdorfergrund, in the south on the towns of Staufenberg, Hesse, Staufenberg and Lollar, and in the west on the community of Lohra, Germany, Lohra. It was formed out of seven former communities in the early 1970s as part of Hessen's municipal reforms at that time. Lohra, Germany
Lohra is a municipality in Marburg-Biedenkopf district in the administrative region of Gießen in Hesse, Germany. Geography Lohra's municipal area, measuring 49 km², stretches across the middle Salzböde valley and the ''Versgrund''. Among its neighbouring communities are Weimar an der Lahn in the northeast, Fronhausen in the southeast and in the northwest Gladenbach, all in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, as well as the town of Lollar, Wettenberg and Biebertal in Gießen district, and Bischoffen in Lahn-Dill district. The community of Lohra is found in the so-called ''Marburger Land''. Together with the communities of Fronhausen, Weimar and Ebsdorfergrund, Lohra forms the southern part of Marburg-Biedenkopf. Ebsdorfergrund
Ebsdorfergrund is a municipality consisting of eleven villages in the southeast of Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse, Germany. The community's municipal area extends over the ''Ebsdorfer Grund'' in the valley of the Zwester Ohm and the areas around its edges, connecting the Amöneburg Basin with the middle Lahn valley between Marburg and Gießen. Through the municipal area runs a highway from Fronhausen (Autobahn interchange in Gießen by ''Bundesstraße'' B 3) to Kirchhain. Another one joins Marburg with Grünberg. The old ring railway, the ''Marburger Kreisbahn'', which opened in 1905 and ran through the municipal area to Dreihausen, was shut down in 1972. Lahn
The Lahn is a , right (or eastern) tributary of the Rhine in Germany. Its course passes through the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia (23.0 km), Hesse (165.6 km), and Rhineland-Palatinate (57.0 km). It has its source in the Rothaargebirge, the highest part of the Sauerland. It meets the Rhine at Lahnstein, near Koblenz. Important cities along the Lahn include Marburg, Gießen, Wetzlar, Limburg an der Lahn, Weilburg and Bad Ems. Tributaries to the Lahn include the Ohm, Dill, the Weil and the Aar. The lower Lahn has many dams with locks, allowing regular shipping from its mouth up to Runkel. Riverboats also operate on a small section north of the dam in Gießen. Weimar (Lahn)
Weimar is a municipality in the south of Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Gießen administrative region, Hesse, Germany. The municipality's administrative seat is the centre of Niederweimar. Geography The municipal area stretches south from Marburg in the Lahn valley and west with the Allna valley on into the Gladenbach Highland and comprises an area of about 47 km². Other than Marburg, the community also borders on Ebsdorfergrund to the east, on Fronhausen to the south, on Lohra to the southwest, and in the far west on the town of Gladenbach.
