''From the Beginning'' is a Gospel music, gospel compilation album by American Contemporary R&B, R&B singer Deniece Williams, released in 1990 on Sparrow Records. It is a collection of gospel songs Williams had recorded during her years at Columbia Records. Williams recorded one gospel song on each of her albums starting with 1976's "Watching Over" from ''This Is Niecy'' to her cover of the Michael Jackson ''Captain EO'' track "We Are Here to Change the World" from 1988's ''As Good As It Gets''. The album also contains a live performance of "God Is Amazing" from the 27th Annual Grammy Awards, originally from her 1977 album ''Song Bird (Deniece Williams album), Song Bird''. Deniece Williams
Deniece Williams (born June Deniece Chandler; June 3, 1951) is an American singer. She has been described as "one of the great soul voices" by the BBC. She is best known for the songs " Free", " Silly", "It's Gonna Take a Miracle" and two ''Billboard'' Hot 100 No.1 singles "Let's Hear It for the Boy" and "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" (with Johnny Mathis). Williams has won four Grammys with twelve nominations altogether. Early life June Deniece Chandler was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, United States. She attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, in the hopes of becoming a registered nurse and an anesthetist, but she dropped out after a year and a half. The album reached No. 10 on the ''Billboard'' Top R&B Albums chart and No. 26 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Production Deniece Williams produced six of the album's tracks while George Duke produced the remaining four. The production of the album was completed in early May 1984 before the album was released a few weeks later. Thomas Randolph Bell (January 27th, 1943 – December 22, 2022) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, arranger, pianist, and composer known as one of the creators of Philadelphia soul in the 1970s. John Barnes (musician)
John Barnes (born 15 May 1932) is an English-born jazz saxophonist and clarinettist, who played New Orleans-styled jazz in his early career, but later also played saxophones in the mainstream style. Biography Barnes was born in Manchester and started out his career as a flügelhorn player in the early 1950s, although adapted his playing skills to the clarinet, an instrument he favoured. He played traditional jazz with Alan Elsdon, The Mike Daniels' Delta Jazzmen and also The Zenith Six. He continued and extended his career musically from 1967 with the Scottish dixieland jazz trumpet and cornet player Alex Welsh and his Jazz Band. He began playing alto, baritone, soprano saxophone and the flute. His association with Welsh lasted for 10 years until 1977. Jerry Peters is an American songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, conductor and arranger. He is best known for writing the hit songs "Love Or Let Me Be Lonely" and "Going In Circles" by The Friends of Distinction. Career Peters was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but was reared in Slidell, Louisiana. At the age of 14, Jerry moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School. Upon graduating he then attended Los Angeles City College as an art major, while continuing to take music classes. He then transferred to the California Institute of Arts but left school just short of getting his degree to enter the music business. Verdine Adams White (born July 25, 1951) is an American musician, best known as a founding member and bassist for the band Earth, Wind & Fire.
