Fredrick "Fritz" Kaegi is an American politician who has served as Cook County assessor since 2018. Early life Kaegi was born in November 1971 in Chicago. He grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. He graduated from Haverford College and went on to get his Master of Business Administration from Stanford University. Career For more than twenty years, Kaegi worked as an asset manager. This included 13 years spent working at Columbia Wagner Asset Management. Kaegi holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Illinois Assessment Officer. He also is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Cook County Assessor 2018 campaign A first-time candidate for public office, Kaegi ran for Cook County assessor in 2018. He largely self-financed his campaign. The Cook County Assessor is the assessor and county government officer of Cook County, Illinois. Office description Before the creation of the position of Cook County Assessor in 1932, the Cook County Board of Assessors completed assessments in Cook County. The Board of Assessors had been created after a law passed by the Illinois General Assembly on February 25, 1898 created a Board of Assessors in counties with 125,000 or more inhabitants. The board had five members, with a rule that no more than four could reside in the same city. After an apparent fourteen month delay in determining the 1931 assessment, it was decided that the structure of assessment in Cook County, with a five member Board of Assessors and three member Cook County Board of Review needed to be restructured. The ''Daily Herald'' is a daily newspaper based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The newspaper is distributed in the northern, northwestern and western suburbs of Chicago. It is the namesake of the Daily Herald Media Group, and through it is the leading subsidiary of Paddock Publications. The paper started in 1871 and was independently owned and run by four generations of the Paddock family. Oak Park, Illinois
Oak Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, adjacent to Chicago. It is the 29th-most populous municipality in Illinois with a population of 54,583 as of the 2020 U.S. Census estimate. Oak Park was first settled in 1835 and later incorporated in 1902, when it separated from Cicero, Illinois, Cicero. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his wife settled in Oak Park in 1889, and his work heavily influenced local architecture and design, including the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio. Over the years, rapid development was spurred by railroads and street cars connecting the village to jobs in nearby Chicago. In 1968, Oak Park passed the Open Housing Ordinance, which helped devise strategies to integrate the village rather than resegregate. Bobby Lee Rush (born November 23, 1946) is an American politician, activist and pastor who served as the U.S. representative for for three decades. A civil rights activist during the 1960s, Rush co-founded the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party. Rush was first elected to Congress in 1992. He has since won consecutive reelections. His district was originally principally on the South Side of Chicago, with a population from 2003 to early 2013 that was 65% African-American, a higher proportion than any other congressional district. Michael Bruce Quigley (born October 17, 1958) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since the April 7, 2009 special election.
