Friendly Fires (album)
''Friendly Fires'' is the debut album from British band Friendly Fires. It was released in the UK on 1 September 2008 where it reached a peak of number 21 on the UK Albums Chart. All tracks were produced by Ed Macfarlane apart from the first track, "Jump in the Pool", which was produced by Paul Epworth. The album was re-released on 31 August 2009 with the addition of five highly sought after remixes of the album's original tracks, plus three new tracks: "Bored of Each Other", "Relationships" and " Kiss of Life", the latter of which was also produced by Paul Epworth. Reception ''Friendly Fires'' originally debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 38 on 13 September 2008. The following week, the album fell to number 88, before falling out of the Top 100 the week after. The album re-entered the Top 100 on two occasions, firstly at number 75 on 1 November 2008 and then again at number 95 on 21 December 2008, where it remained within the Top 100 for four consecutive weeks. Friendly Fires
Friendly Fires are an English indie rock band from St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. They are currently signed to XL Recordings. Their self-titled debut album was released on 1 September 2008, and was announced as one of the shortlisted twelve for the 2009 Mercury Prize on 21 July 2009. History Friendly Fires met at St Albans School. At the age of 13, in year eight and nine (the second or third year), the members formed their first band, a post-hardcore outfit called First Day Back, covering songs by Green Day and other rock-like artists, which existed until they began university. During this time, lead singer Ed Macfarlane released his own music (under his own name) through the electronica label Skam, and Precinct Recordings. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Initially based in Minneapolis, Pitchfork later moved to Chicago, and then Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Its offices are currently located in One World Trade Center alongside other Condé Nast publications. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. "Skeleton Boy" is the third single by Friendly Fires taken from the band's self-titled debut album ''Friendly Fires''. It was released on 2 March 2009 in the UK and 1 March 2009 in the United States. This version of the song was produced by Paul Epworth and was used in the promotional video for the song. This version is different from the version on the album that was produced by singer Ed Macfarlane, in that it is 30 seconds longer than the original version and features an extended instrumental bridge. The song is featured on the soundtrack of NHL 2K10 and NBA 2K12. "Jump in the Pool" is the second single by Friendly Fires taken from the band's self-titled debut album ''Friendly Fires''. It was first made available as a single on iTunes on 1 September 2008, the same day the album was released, along with a promotional video. There was also a hand numbered, one sided white label 7" (limited to 250 copies). It was released as a 12" vinyl and a download EP on 18 May 2009. It is the theme tune to the BBC's Final Score for the 2009/10 Football Season. Australian singer LENKA also recorded a cover for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, which was then put on the album "Live Lounge 4".
