Friedrich Bayer (general)
__NOTOC__ Friedrich Bayer (1 November 1887 – 5 August 1953) was a German lieutenant general during World War II who commanded several divisions. Biography First, he commanded Division No. 182 (October 1939 - April 1940). This was followed by the position of Commander of Strasbourg until the beginning of 1941. From mid-March 1941 he took over the newly established 281st Security Division, which he led until October 1941. Wilhelm von Leeb put him in charge of the extermination of all partisans north of Pskov in August 1941. He was then transferred to the Führerreserve in October 1941. From December 1941 he took over the leadership of the 122nd Infantry Division for two months, and was commander of the 181st Infantry Division for a few days in March 1942. Krotoszyn
Krotoszyn (german: Krotoschin, yi, קראטאשין ''Krotoshin'') is a town in west-central Poland with 30,010 inhabitants . It has been part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship since 1999; it was within Kalisz Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. History Krotoszyn was founded by local nobleman , participant of the Battle of Grunwald, and was granted town rights in 1415 by King Władysław II Jagiełło. It was a private town owned by the Krotoski, Niewieski, Rozdrażewski and Potocki families, historically located in the Kalisz Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Polish Crown. 281st Security Division (''281. Sicherungs-Division'') was a rear-security division in the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany. Established in 1941, the unit was deployed in German-occupied areas of the Soviet Union, in the Army Group North Rear Area. The unit was converted to an infantry division in 1945, while stationed in Courland. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal.
