Friedel De Wet
Friedel de Wet (born 26 June 1980 in Durban, Natal Province, South Africa) is a former South African first-class cricketer. de Wet was educated at Grenswag High School in Rustenburg and went to the University of Technology in Pretoria for future education. He represented the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA) National Academy, Titans, Lions, North West and the Northerns as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He took 48 wickets at 22.00 for the Lions in 2006–07. de Wet toured India with the South Africa 'A' party in 2007–08 and signed for Middlesex as a Kolpak registration for the 2008 season. On 5 January 2011 it was announced that he would play for Hampshire as a Kolpak registration for the 2011 season. He also had a spell in the Lancashire Cricket League with Chorley Cricket Club in 2008 taking 56 wickets at an average of just over 13. In cricket, batting is the act or skill of hitting the ball with a bat to score runs and prevent the loss of one's wicket. Any player who is currently batting is, since September 2021, officially referred to as a batter (historically, the terms "batsman" and "batswoman" were used), regardless of whether batting is their particular area of expertise. Batters have to adapt to various conditions when playing on different cricket pitches, especially in different countries - therefore, as well as having outstanding physical batting skills, top-level batters will have quick reflexes, excellent decision-making and be good strategists. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Dale Willem Steyn (; born 27 June 1983) is a South African former professional cricketer who played for the South African Cricket Team. He is often regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time and the best Test bowler of his generation. Chorley Cricket Club
Chorley Cricket Club is an English cricket club based in Chorley, Lancashire, playing their home matches at Windsor Park. The club's first team compete in the ECB Northern Premier Cricket League, while the Second, Third and Sunday development teams take part in the more locally based Palace Shield along with all Junior teams from a large and healthy juniour section. The club gained prominence nationally in the 1990s when Chorley the final of the Abbot Ale ECB National Club Cricket Championship at Lords in 1994, 1995 and 1996. Chorley won the trophy beating Ealing in '94 and Clifton Bourton in '95 whilst losing to Walsall in the '96 final. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. 2011 English Cricket Season
The 2011 English cricket season was the 112th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. It began on 2 April with a round of university matches, and continued until the final of the Clydesdale Bank 40 on 17 September. Three major domestic competitions were contested: the 2011 County Championship won by Lancashire, the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 won by Surrey and the 2011 Friends Life t20 won by Leicestershire. During this season, two Test teams toured England: Sri Lanka lost both the Test series (1–0) and the One Day International (ODI) series (3–2), but won the solitary Twenty20 International (T20I). 2008 English Cricket Season
The 2008 English cricket season was the 109th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. Four regular tournaments were played: The LV County Championship ( first-class), Friends Provident Trophy ( 50 Over), NatWest Pro40 League ( 40 Over) and the Twenty20 Cup ( T20). All four tournaments featured the eighteen classic county cricket teams, although the Friends Provident Trophy also featured sides from Ireland and Scotland. In the county championship, Durham won their first championship title by 8 points from Nottinghamshire. Kent and Surrey were the two sides to be relegated to Division Two, with Surrey failing to register a win for the first time since ''1871''.
