Frieda Salvendy
Frieda Salvendy (4 January 1887 – 1965) was a Jewish Austrian painter, engraver, feminist and Holocaust refugee. Biography Salvendy was born in Vienna, Austria. She studied under Albin Egger-Lienz and Felix Albrecht Harta. She was known for her landscapes and figure painting, as well as her lithography. Like many of her contemporaries she shunned the more decorative approach of Art Nouveau and saw painting as a means of spiritual expression. She exhibited with the '' Vereinigung bildender Künstlerinnen Österreichs'' (VBKÖ) and the ''Wiener Frauenkunst''. She was a member of the Austrian artists' group Hagenbund, a prestigious group of Austrian artists which allowed her to mix with others who embraced the newer schools of Expressionism and New Objectivity. Her works were exhibited in Stockholm, Prague and Vienna. Nové Mesto nad Váhom (; german: Neustadt an der Waag, Neustadtl, Waag-Neustadtl, Waagneustadtl, Waag-Neustadt; hu, Vágújhely, Vág-Újhely) is a town in the Trenčín Region of Slovakia. Albin Egger-Lienz
Albin Egger-Lienz (29 January 1868 – 4 November 1926) was an Austrian painter known especially for rustic genre and historical paintings. Career He was born in Dölsach-Stribach near Lienz, in what was the county of Tyrol. He was the natural son of Maria Trojer, a peasant girl, and Georg Egger, a church painter.Lachnit 2003. As an adult he used his father's surname combined with the name of his birthplace. He had his first artistic training under his father, and subsequently studied at the Academy in Munich where he was influenced by Franz Defregger and French painter Jean-François Millet. From 1893 to 1899 he worked in Munich,Clegg 2008. where he joined the local artistic association. He exhibited from the mid-1890s. The Jewish American Society for Historic Preservation (JASHP) is an American non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer historical society. The society locates sites of American and Jewish historical interest and importance. It works with local community organizations, synagogues, churches, historical societies, governments and individuals, to erect interpretive historical markers that help illuminate the American-Jewish experience and reflect on the commonality of being American. JASHP was founded in 1999 after the discovery by the founder, Jerry Klinger, of the first permanent Jewish house of worship in the territory of New Mexico (Temple Montefiore, Las Vegas, N.M.).
