''Friday the 13th Part III'' is a 1982 American slasher film directed by Steve Miner, produced by Frank Mancuso Jr., and starring Dana Kimmell, Paul Kratka, and Richard Brooker. It is the third installment in the ''Friday the 13th'' franchise. Set directly after the events of '' Friday the 13th Part 2'', the plot follows a teenage girl (Kimmell) and her friends who go on a trip at a house near Crystal Lake where a wounded Jason Voorhees (Brooker) has taken refuge until reemerging for another killing spree. The film marks the first appearance of Jason's signature hockey mask, which has since become a trademark of both the character and the franchise, as well as an icon in American cinema and the horror genre in general. Steve Miner
Stephen C. Miner (born June 18, 1951) is an American director of film and television, film producer, and a member of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is notable for his work in the horror genre, including ''Friday the 13th Part 2'', ''Friday the 13th Part III'', ''House'', ''Warlock'', '' Halloween H20: 20 Years Later'', '' Lake Placid'', and ''Day of the Dead''. He has also directed numerous comedy and drama films, as well as episodes of notable television series including ''The Wonder Years, Dawson's Creek'', and ''Smallville.'' Lawrence J. Zerner (born September 8, 1963) is an American lawyer and actor who appeared in the 1982 horror film ''Friday the 13th Part III'' as Shelly Finkelstein, the original owner of the infamous hockey mask which became Jason Voorhees's trademark. Catherine LaBelle Parks (born December 10, 1956) is an American actress who has starred in movies and on television. Chris Higgins is a fictional character in the ''Friday the 13th'' franchise. Chris first appears in ''Friday the 13th Part III'' (1982) as a young woman visiting a family homestead with friends to overcome trauma. She is portrayed by Dana Kimmell. Pamela Voorhees () is a character (arts), fictional character and the overarching antagonists, antagonist of the Friday the 13th (franchise), ''Friday the 13th'' series of horror films.
