French Ice Hockey Federation
The French Ice Hockey Federation (french: Fédération française de hockey sur glace (FFHG)) is the governing body of ice hockey in France, as recognized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It was founded in 2006 after separation with the Fédération française des sports de glace (English: French Ice Sports Federation). For the first ten years, the federation had its offices in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Hauts-de-Seine. In 2016, it moved to a new national training center in Cergy, Val-d'Oise. It manages both the amateur and professional games in France, as well as the national teams on junior and senior levels. France is a founding member of the IIHF. Luc Tardif served as the inaugural president of the federation from its inception in 2006 to 2021. Upon his election as president of the IIHF, he was succeeded by Pierre-Yves Gerbeau. Charles Ramsay (ice Hockey)
Charles Ramsay, sometimes spelled Charles Ramsey, was an American amateur and professional ice hockey player and coach. Ramsay was a star in Europe, particularly France, in the 1930s when a new arena-based ice rink, coupled with aggressive marketing by future Boxing Hall of Fame promoter Jeff Dickson, made the sport a popular novelty in Paris. Ramsay was also a teacher of the game and, in addition to coaching many Parisian youth players of the era, authored a 1933 instructional book simply called ''Le hockey sur glace'' (''Ice Hockey''). It has been credited as the first book devoted entirely to the sport to be published in France. International play Ramsay captained the United States national team at the 1931 LIHG World Championships, which marked the country's debut at a standalone World Championship. Alain Bozon (born 6 September 1939) is a French former professional ice hockey player and curler. Bozon captained the French national team in the 1960s and was inducted into the French Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. Bozon also curled, he competed for France at the 1966 Scotch Cup, the World Men's Curling Championship, and at the 1970 World Men's Curling Championship. Philippe Lacarrière (born 20 April 1938) is a French former ice hockey player and current ice hockey executive. After representing France at the Ice Hockey World Championships and Winter Olympics, Lacarrière joined the French Federation of Ice Sports and became an executive member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). In 2011, he was inducted into the French Ice Hockey Hall of Fame and in 2018, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame for his work with the French International Ice Hockey committee. Lacarrière and his father, Jacques, became the second father-son pair to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Bernard Deschamps (born 29 May 1944) is a French ice hockey player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1968 Winter Olympics. He played on numerous teams. Deschamps played on multiple teams including the Long Island Ducks (ice hockey) of the American Hockey League. He would additionally play for Sudbury Wolves, Indianapolis Chiefs, Baltimore Clippers, St. Paul Rangers and the Providence Reds. Deschamps was considered to be a top minor league prospect.
