''Daddy Nostalgie'', released as These Foolish Things in the UK and ''Daddy Nostalgia'' in the USA, is a 1990 French drama film directed by Bertrand Tavernier. It was entered into the 1990 Cannes Film Festival and is Dirk Bogarde's last film. Odette Laure was nominated for the César Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film tells the story of a young woman who goes to help her parents during her father's last illness and how in that time father and daughter establish a tentative bond that had eluded them all their lives. The film is dedicated to Michael Powell, who died shortly before its release. Plot Caroline, a freelance scriptwriter in Paris, is called to the hospital where her father Tony, a retired businessman, has undergone surgery. ''La Femme Nikita'', also called ''Nikita'' in France, is a 1990 action thriller film written and directed by Luc Besson. The film stars Anne Parillaud as the title character, a teen criminal who is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering policemen during an armed pharmacy robbery. Her government handlers fake her death and recruit her as a professional assassin. After intense training, she starts a career as a killer, where she struggles to balance her work with her personal life. She shows talent at this and her career progresses until a mission in an embassy goes awry. ''Nikita'' was commercially successful, but received mixed reviews from critics. Michèle Morgan
Michèle Morgan (; née Simone Renée Roussel; 29 February 1920 – 20 December 2016) was a French film actress, who was a leading lady for three decades in both French cinema and Hollywood features. She is considered to have been one of the great French actresses of the 20th century. Morgan was the inaugural winner of the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. ''Everybody's Fine'' ( it, Stanno tutti bene) is a 1990 Italian drama film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore who co-wrote the screenplay with Tonino Guerra and Massimo De Rita. It won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury (Giuseppe Tornatore) and was nominated for Golden Palm (Giuseppe Tornatore) at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. It also won the David di Donatello Awards for David Best Music ( Ennio Morricone) and the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists for Silver Ribbon Best Original Story (Giuseppe Tornatore). André Wilms (29 April 1947 – 9 February 2022) was a French film and television actor who also appeared in German and Finnish films.
