Alfred Fremlin
Alfred Reginald Fremlin (1832 – 14 July 1915) was an English-born Australian politician. He was born in Wateringbury in Kent to William Fremlin and Elizabeth Morton. A fellmonger, he married Elizabeth Mennons around 1852; they had twelve children. He migrated to New South Wales around 1855 and settled in Sydney, working as a fellmonger; he would later become a Baptist minister. In 1880 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. Celia Fremlin
Celia Margaret Fremlin (20 June 1914 – 16 June 2009) was an English writer of mystery fiction. Life Celia was born in Kingsbury, now part of London, England. She was the daughter of Heaver Fremlin and Margaret Addiscott. Her older brother, John H. Fremlin, later became a nuclear physicist. Fremlin studied Classics at Somerville College, University of Oxford. From 1942 to 2000 she lived in Hampstead, London. In 1942 she married Elia Goller, with whom she had three children; he died in 1968. In 1985, Fremlin married Leslie Minchin, who died in 1999. Her many crime novels and stories helped modernize the sensation novel tradition by introducing criminal and (rarely) supernatural elements into domestic settings. Her 1958 novel ''The Hours Before Dawn'' won the Edgar Award in 1960. Fremlin was involved in Mass-Observation during the war, and published ''War Factory'' with Tom Harrisson in 1943. Fremlin's Brewery
Fremlin's was a brewery in Maidstone, Kent, England. It was established by Ralph Fremlin in 1861, who eschewed the pub trade and focused on bottled beer, on religious grounds. The beer was known for the distinctive elephant logo on the bottles. The brewery expanded to become the largest in Kent, before going into decline after being purchased by Whitbread in 1967. History Expansion The original brewery was founded on Earl Street, Maidstone, around 1790. It was bought by Ralph Fremlin in 1861, who rebuilt the premises, and expanded the production plant along the street, taking over a pub further down which was demolished. As well as being in charge of production, Fremlin managed all engineering and accounts. He did not approve of public houses and sold the ten premises associated with the brewery at that point. Instead, he produced bottled beer for the home trade, believing it could be consumed in moderation more easily, delivering bottles door-to-door via horse and cart. The beer w ... Fremlin Walk is an outdoor shopping centre in Maidstone town centre, Kent, England. It opened in 2005 after several years of development by Centros Miller to include of shopping and a 760 space car park. The original owner was Land Securities plc. Legal & General Property bought the centre in 2011 for £92 million. It then passed to M&G Real Estate for £110m. Location The main pedestrian entrance to the centre is from the pedestrianised Week Street (one of Maidstone's main shopping streets) to the east. There are other pedestrian entrances from St Faith's Street to the north and Earl Street, to the south. The A229 Fairmeadow runs parallel to the River Medway at the western end of the centre, but is approximately 2 storeys lower than the shopping centre. The car park for the centre is located below the House of Fraser department store at the western end; vehicle access is from Fairmeadow and Earl Street.
