Recha Freier
Recha Freier (Hebrew: רחה פריאר) born Recha Schweitzer, (October 29, 1892 in Norden, East Frisia – April 2, 1984 in Jerusalem) founded the Youth Aliyah organization in 1933. The organization saved the lives of 7,000 Jewish children by helping them to leave Nazi Germany for Mandatory Palestine before and during the Holocaust. Recha Freier was also a poet, musician, teacher and social activist. Early life Recha Schweitzer was born into a Jewish Orthodox family. Her parents were Bertha (née Levy, 1862–1945 in Theresienstadt), a French and English teacher, and Menashe Schweitzer (1856–1929), who taught several subjects at a Jewish primary school. Slawomir Paul Freier (Polish: Sławomir Paweł Freier; born 26 July 1979) is a German football coach and former player who was usually employed as a midfielder. Shalhevet Freier ( he, שלהבת פריאר; 16 July 1920 – 27 November 1994) was an Israeli physicist and administrator. Freier was born in Eschwege, Germany, the son of Rabbi Dr. Moritz (Moshe Yissachar) Freier and Recha Freier, founder of the Youth Aliyah organization. In 1937, while studying at a Christian school, he composed an essay expressing opposition to Nazi doctrine, which led to his expulsion. At his request, his parents sent him to England to continue his education. In 1940, he immigrated to British Mandated Palestine and was accepted as a student in the Department of Mathematics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Upon completing his first year, his mother arrived and settled in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem, after which he joined the British army in 1941, and served in the Jewish 462nd General Transport Company in North Africa and Italy. Laurie Freier
Laurie Freier is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach. He played in Sydney's NSWRFL Premiership for the Eastern Suburbs and Manly-Warringah clubs during the 1970s, later coaching Easts as well as the Western Suburbs Magpies during the 1980s. He is also the father of former rugby union international Adam Freier. Playing Freier began his first grade New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership career in 1970 with the Eastern Suburbs club. He played from the bench in Easts' loss to Manly-Warringah in the 1972 Grand Final, coming on in the second half to replace injured Greg Bandiera. Moving to the Manly-Warringah club two years later, Freier managed a handful of first grade appearances in 1975 and 1976 before retiring.
