Freiberg (Sachs) Station
Freiberg (Sachs) station is a station on the Dresden–Werdau railway and the Nossen–Moldava railway in Freiberg in the German state of Saxony. Until 1995 it was also the start of the disused Freiberg–Halsbrücke railway. History Freiberg (Sachs) station was opened with the opening of the extension of the Dresden–Tharandt railway to Freiberg on 11 August 1862. The station building, which was generous at the time, was designed by Freiberg architect Eduard Heuchler and included Gothic Revival elements. There is not much to see of these since reconstruction in the 20th century, but in its basic structure the station is still the building of 1862. Nearly seven years after its opening, the extension of the line to Chemnitz was opened on 1 March 1869 and Freiberg station became a through station. Freiberg
Freiberg is a university and former mining town in Saxony, Germany. It is a so-called ''Große Kreisstadt'' (large county town) and the administrative centre of Mittelsachsen district. Its historic town centre has been placed under heritage conservation and is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Ore Mountain Mining Region, due to its exceptional testimony to the development of mining techniques across many centuries. Franken-Sachsen-Express
Saxon-Franconian trunk line (german: Sachsen-Franken-Magistrale) is a modern term for a double-track railway route between the German cities of Dresden and Nuremberg. It is 390 kilometres long and currently electrified from Dresden to Hof. The concept of the Saxon-Franconian trunk route was developed in the transport policy debate in the 1990s during consideration of direct rail services connecting Dresden and Görlitz with Karlsruhe and Oberstdorf. The term is not traditionally used in relation to the railway lines now described by it. Route The route runs from Dresden to the southwest through the Ore Mountain Foreland (''Erzgebirgsvorland''), running from Dresden to Zwickau parallel with the Ore Mountains. Freiberger Eisenbahn
The Freiberger, also known as Franches-Montagnes, is a horse breed from Switzerland, from the Jura region, described as either a "heavy warmblood" or a "light coldblood". It was widely used as draft and pack horse in the Swiss army. It has a good disposition and is versatile, suitable for both driving and riding. Each year at the ''Marché Concours'' in Saignelégier in the Franches-Montagnes district of the Swiss canton of Jura, on the second weekend in August, a variety of shows and competitions are held. Plauen (Vogtland) Oberer Bahnhof ''(Upper station)'' is the main station of Plauen in the German state of Saxony on the Leipzig–Hof line. It is the main hub of rail traffic in Vogtland. Zwickau Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of Zwickau in the German state of Saxony. History On 18 September 1845 Zwickau was connected by a branch line to the Leipzig–Reichenbach railway line. Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station in Chemnitz in Germany. Station building The station has a combination of terminating and through platforms. Platform tracks 5 to 9 terminate and tracks 1 to 4 and 10 to 14 continue to the west of Chemnitz towards Zwickau, Nuremberg and Göttingen. Tracks 11 to 14 are reached by a passenger subway. The Dresden S-Bahn is a network of S-Bahn-type commuter train services in Dresden and the surrounding area. It is commissioned by Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO) from DB Regio ''Verkehrsbetrieb Südostsachsen'' and currently consists of three services operating over a network.
