Free Press Summer Fest
The Free Press Summer Festival was an annual two-day music festival held in Houston, Texas at Buffalo Bayou's Eleanor Tinsley Park. Other activities include fireworks, interactive art installations, a paint slide, music workshops, a 30-foot water wall and an off-site after party. The festival was started to emphasize local musical performers, visual arts and artists. A recycling program, carbon offset credits and a partnership with the Texas Campaign for the Environment are implemented to help this festival become a greener experience. The festival is organized by ''Free Press Houston'', a local independent newspaper and Pegstar.net Presents, a local concert promotion company. As of November 30, 2017 it has been made official by both Free Press Houston and Austin City Limits promoters that a new version of the festival is to take place in Houston on the weekend of March 24–25, 2018 under a new name; In Bloom Music Festival. What Made Milwaukee Famous (WMMF) is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas, United States. In 2005, the band performed for Austin City Limits with Franz Ferdinand, making them one of the only unsigned bands to play for the show in its -year history. In 2006, the band signed with Barsuk Records, which re-released their 2004 debut album, '' Trying to Never Catch Up''. Their second album, ''What Doesn't Kill Us'', was released on March 4, 2008. The Tontons are an indie rock band from Houston, Texas consisting of lead vocalist Asli Omar, bassist Tom Nguyen, guitarist Adam Martinez, and drummer Justin Martinez. They were formed in 2007. They have received two Houston Press Music Awards, including "Best New Act" of 2008 and "Best Local Recording" in 2014. The Sword
The Sword was an American heavy metal band from Austin, Texas. Formed in 2003, the band was composed of vocalist and guitarist John D. Cronise, guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist Bryan Richie and drummer Santiago "Jimmy" Vela III for most of its tenure. The Octopus Project
The Octopus Project is an American indietronica band based in Austin, Texas, active since 1999. Their sound blends pop and experimental elements, and is a combination of digital and electronic sounds and noises (including drum machine, keyboard, synthesizers and other devices) and analog equipment (including guitars and live drums). The band's music is mostly instrumental. On April 30, 2006, the Octopus Project performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Grandfather Child is a rock band based in Houston, Texas. Using lap steel guitar instead of the traditional two electric guitar line-up, Grandfather Child has created a sound that mixes country, Gospel, as well as rhythm and blues. History Grandfather Child was founded in 2009 by Lucas Gorham as he left the punk rock group Satin Hooks. He formed the band originally as a trio, with Ryan Chavez, drums, and Mark Speer, bass with the goal to explore the music he had discovered in a film about Gospel music, called ''Sacred Steel''. Explosions In The Sky
Explosions in the Sky is an American post-rock band from Texas. The quartet originally played under the name Breaker Morant, then changed to the current name in 1999.
