Free Enterprise Group
The Free Enterprise Group was a grouping of Thatcherite British Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Members of Parliament founded in mid-2011 by Liz Truss that existed until 2022. The book ''Britannia Unchained'' was written by members of the group. The group has been associated with the Institute of Economic Affairs. The group was effectively succeeded by the Free Market Forum, also affiliated with the IEA. Thatcherism is a form of British conservative ideology named after Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party leader Margaret Thatcher that relates to not just her political platform and particular policies but also her personal character and style of management while in office. Benedict Michael Gummer (born 19 February 1978) is a British businessman and former politician. He is a partner of Gummer Leathes, a property developer. He is a senior adviser to McKinsey & Company, the management consultancy, and a visiting fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University. Gummer served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipswich from 2010 to 2017. Alexander Jesse Norman (born 23 June 1962) is a British politician who has served as Shadow Leader of the House of Commons since November 2024. Brooks Phillip Victor Newmark (born 8 May 1958) is a former British Conservative politician, who served as a Member of Parliament and minister. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for Braintree in the 2005 general election and stood down at the 2015 general election. Christopher Dimitri Kelly (born 1978) is a British Conservative Party politician.
