Fredy Kehrli
Fredy Kehrli (21 September 1935 – 13 October 2008) was a Swiss footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. He played mainly in the position as defender, but also as midfielder. Kehrli first played for Biel-Bienne in the second tier of Swiss football. In the 1956–1957 Kehrli and the team won promotion to the Nationalliga A. But at the end of the season the team suffered relegation. Kehrli then joined FC Basel's first team for their 1958–59 season under manager Rudi Strittich. After playing in three test games, Kehrli played his domestic league debut for his new club in the first game of the season, on 31 August 1958, as Basel were defeated 1–2 by La Chaux-de-Fonds. In his one season with the club, Kehrli played a total of 33 games for Basel without scoring a goal. 23 of these games were in the Nationalliga A, one in the Swiss Cup and nine were friendly games. FC La Chaux-de-Fonds is a Swiss football club based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was founded in 1894 and used to play at the Stade Charrière. History F.C. The Swiss Cup (; ; ; ) is a football cup tournament that has been organised annually since 1925–26 by the Swiss Football Association. Rudi Strittich
Rudi Strittich (3 March 1922 – 11 July 2010) was an Austrian association football, football coach and former player. Club career Strittich debuted for SK Vorwärts Steyr, Vorwärts Steyr, and later played for First Vienna FC. While with First Vienna, he went on a tour of the Middle East and upon returning was arrested along with two other players for smuggling narcotics into Austria. Strittich was imprisoned for three months and banned from football for one year by the Austrian Football Association. Unable to play football in Austria, Strittich was recruited by Béla Guttmann to play for Italian club USC Triestina. The Austrian FA would not clear him to play, so he joined Colombian side Unión Magdalena, Samarios, where he could play because the Colombian Football Federation was not at the time affiliated to FIFA. 1958–59 FC Basel Season
The 1958–59 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 65th season in their existence. It was their thirteenth consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion from the Nationalliga B the season 1945–46. They played their home games in the Landhof, in the Wettstein Quarter in Kleinbasel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for his 13th successive, but final, period. Düblin presided the club during the period July 1946 until Mai 1959 and in the club's history he is the most permanent president that the club has had to date.
