Fredrik Thoresen
Fredrik Thoresen (7 May 1926 – 23 December 2012) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born in Bestum, and took his civil engineering education in chemistry at the University of Birmingham, whence he graduated in 1953. From 1972 to 1988 he was the chief executive officer of Standard Telephones and Cables, Standard Telefon og Kabelfabrik, which during the period was acquired by Alcatel-Lucent, Alcatel and changed name to Alcatel STK. He was the last president of the Federation of Norwegian Industries (1919–1989), Federation of Norwegian Industries, from 1987 to 1989. The organization then merged to form the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise, and Thoresen was vice president there from 1989 to 1992. From 1988 to 1999 he chaired Alcatel STK. In 1984 he was installed as a board member in Statoil, by Willoch's Second Cabinet. In 1987 he resigned together with most of the board, following misconduct in the Mongstad scandal. Birger Rasmussen
Birger Rasmussen MC & Bar (23 August 1920 – 6 December 2007) was a Norwegian businessman, director of Katfos Fabriker, manager of Borregaard's pulp and paper section, director of Follum Fabrikker, and president of the Federation of Norwegian Industries. During the Second World War, Rasmussen was member of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) group Kompani Linge, and eventually the sabotage group Oslogjengen. He received both British and Norwegian decorations for his war contributions. Personal life Rasmussen was born in Drammen to Birger Rasmussen and Lilly Bruusgaard, and finished his secondary education in 1939. He was married to Anne Sophie Braathen, daughter of Ludvig G. Snarøya
Snarøya is a populated peninsula in the inner Oslofjord in Norway. It belongs to Bærum municipality in Viken (formerly Akershus) county. It is located south of the districts Lysaker, Lagåsen and Fornebu, and has 2,940 inhabitants. History Its name is derived from the word ''snar'', meaning thicket or brushy terrain. The suffix ''-øya'' refers to the fact that the peninsula was an island until the nineteenth century. It is unclear when the island was first settled, but the manor ''Snarøen'' is known from historical sources. In 1616 the manor was registered as crown land, but it later became privately owned. It comprised the entire island. The theologist Christian Kølle, who owned the manor from 1770 and 1803, contributed to history as he published the topographical pamphlet in 1792.
